Bold Prediction About The Oxide Meta

The X5 has better quirks, more tonnage to play with, and energy weapons for back up, doesn't have a massive CT hit box, harder hitting alpha, more armor, and they're now about the same size.
In short? Welcome to the 2xASRM6+PEW PEW Cicada meta.
Now there is a sentence I never thought I'd say...

On my X5, I use 2 SRM4 with 2 MPL, and I chainfire those weapons on hot maps. I rarely worry about overheating.
With the fast missile cooldown time it's already fun to blast an assault 'Mech at close range, then hide and do it again.
I wonder what it will be like after the patch. I've complained under my breath many times about trying to kill those little Jenner and Cheeta damage sponges. Will I be the one that others complain about next? I wonder what that will feel like.

Im a HUGE fan of my X5 and all CDA, but it is all CT. I once made a cda(not the x5 but whocares) with a std engine and tried the best i could to soak damage on the wings and st, youll never have a st cored before your CT is completely destroyed.

Also like others said: No light.
I don´t care if SRMbombing Lights go or stay. There are other things Lights excel at. If I want my dose of splat I will, as always, take to my trusted Spladder, delivering 48 points af ASRM damage goodness with loads of Ammo and decent cooling.

As an X-5 driver, you don't want to load up with SRM6s. It is too much weight that you end up having to carry which means that your heat efficiency takes a dump. I run 2x SRM4s and 4x Md Lasers and, let me tell you, that is plenty hot with a max 340XL.

Thing with Cicadas is they get legged. I mean if you have half a clue, you just shoot at their knees. People saying they are all CT, man how long are you face tanking your laser shots? When I played my X5(been a while now) I routinely lost arms, and had most of my armor stripped. The times that didn't happen, were the times someone was actually paying attention and AC40'd(or equivolant) a leg, or got a back shot in with twin goose or something as I was doing drive by's.
In the end though, the "light weight meta" chassis is going to get shook out by quirk passes over the next couple months. If high speed dive bombs with SRM stick around, there are better chassis then Cicada to do that with. If we go back to lasers at a more middle range, I would say it will end up being whichever mech has the best mobility and structure quirks, and in that case JJ are a consideration. Cicadas could indeed fall into this one.
Really the only loadouts not being affected by this rescale are going to be the ubersniper ones. Quirks, yes, rescale, not so much.
All in all, I don;t think anyone can accurately predict what we will see 3 months from now after this all settles down. People might take a guess and get lucky, but I don;t think anyone really knows how stuff will pan out. IMO, rescale will be the ultimate game refresher(chassis wise) or not really make much difference at all in the end other then remove one of the whiner's crying points for anti-PGI rants.

A few percent increase to the hitboxes in the spider and Raven changed their balance like crazy. The increase we see coming will make them worthless.

You forgot the true winner of the grand rescale of ´16:
The Lolcust. It shrinks.
Hail Locust, Light of Lights. Thou shallst rule forever. Thy enemies shall perish under your mighty

35-tonners like the Jenner (including the Oxide) are going to struggle in the post rescaling world. PGI will try to solve this only by using quirks, instead of looking at other options. Eventually, weapon quirks will reach a point where 35-tonners are bigger (no pun intended) glass cannons than ever. Oxide and Jenner IIC will have SRM machine guns that make the old Huginn's rate of fire pale in comparison. I also predict the same kind of CT structure quirks as the Dragon have (+24 structure).
QUIRKS
partially solving (and creating new) problems since 2014

Weight class restrictions will keep the X5 from any real relevance.
All this does is reduce the value of lights overall. Most mechs that will still be small enough to be effective and 'safe' for their low armor/structure values won't have enough firepower for good ankle-biting.
My prediction is that we see a rise in sniper lights as anything small enough to still be hard to hit won't have enough firepower to be worth the risk. This is just breeding poke-lights.
