Not a new player, but still asking...

The new minimap shows the entire map at once now...how can I scale it so it is showing just my local area instead of the entire map?

Is there even a control for this? It wasn't an issue on the previous version.

No zoom in feature right now, but Russ said on twitter a hot fix of some sort is incoming to make it more like the old map, but not quite the same....whatever that means.

I personally don't care for the new mini map, but as a long time gamer I will adjust.

Sesmic is useless now.

No FoV indicators.

Tactical value is almost nothing because it is zoomed out so much.

No indicator of leg/torso direction anymore.

Who asked for this update?

Was this even beta tested? Did they do a survey where people told them it was great? I don't get how this could get this far.

Judging from the comments in-game so far today, it is universally hated. Not one person is saying they like it.

It has its uses. Just need a button to toggle between the old minimap and the new one in mid match.

Look on the upside, I can get rid of all my seismic sensor modules and get back a ton load of C-Bills.

Other than that, it will take a while to get used to the new mini map. Hope they give us the ability to click on the map to ping locations though. That would at least make it a bit more useful.

Yes, that is commonly referred to as the "B" key, which would pull up the full Battlemap, and could quickly be pulled up and taken back off-screen when assessing the whole battlefield.

The different icons for various mech classes is a solid idea, sure. But if I can make line of sight on something, I just want to know from the minimap if it's friendly or hostile. That's only really useful in a macro scale- the Battlemap.

I was talking about without having to pull up the full battle grid and block my entire screen.

why is everybody keep telling seismic is useless now? It's just not true! Maybe it's a bit harder to figure where the threat is but you still get the "blips". There's a lot to criticize concerning the new map, but who now cries about seismic beeing a bit toned down in usefullness is just too used to using this joke of a module.

Make the map full screen ;)

But I'm with a lot of people, the zoomed out, zero orientation is a bit frustrating.
I saw on the FB group:
"Imagine if Google maps didn't turn to orient which way you were going."

I found myself damn near lost on a couple of maps last night, thinking I was oriented one way via the map, and I would run a completely different direction.

Perhaps if they introduced a Toggle option...
Classic mode, map rotation and Mech directional orientation
New Mode, the way it is now post patch.

Seismic has been extremely useful to me actually. Only Radar Deprivation is better IMO. LOTS of times it has alerted me to some obnoxious light trying to sneak behind me and backstab me. Or let me see a flank coming early enough to evade it. When it's not there, I miss it.

It's usefulness is dramatically lower when you cannot pinpoint where the enemy mech is. It is "worthless" in the sense that there is no point in carrying it with this current minimap. The space and weight and cost is better spent elsewhere.

Of course, that's why I got 20+ adv. seismics + radar derp sets.
But isn't something really wrong if these are the goto modules?
Why not a slight nerf to smth clearly overpowered?
Well the hyberbole is real and we're back to normal.
