different enough for a change, plays different, no extra cost, and we suddenly have more maps. why not ?

Now I feel everything is long range, and it's boring as heck. I get that others appreciate it, I just don't get this hard-on for maps that are open area. Why not maps that have something for everyone?
I admit I don't know much about coding, but how hard is it to put something back in rotation, and why must it be one or the other? And what about classic maps from older iterations of Mechwarrior? Would that not tickle oldtimer fancy with nostalgia and draw in newcomers for curiosity's sake? What about a contest/outreach to the player community for map design? I guarantee there are creative people out there.

- No reason we cant have both.

The time wasted making maps that will FOREVER be 80% unused wastes of space is lost. The designers should L2P the game and then make changes. Small maps were fine, there were just way too few maps.
If there were more than 12v12 then maybe they would turn to 40-60% unused wastes of space but the maps are far too large for this game and will always be a nice looking but worthless addition for as long as MWO survives, well unless we get 24v24 or more..
The maps are just getting up to par with cryengine maps from 5 years ago. Stop lying to yourself and pretending they are anything but way too late to the party to matter.
They look nice and provide a false sense of increased TTK by making you wait to fight since the drop zones are so far away.

Future reference for PGI, why not keep old maps unless they are truly broken.
Bringing it back would be a nice thing...

Let's not get starry-eyed here, old Frozen City was not friendly to long-range 'mechs. Doable, yes, but barely.
But yes I would support bringing it back.

That said, it'd be nice to have all the old maps available in private matches. Or used in a Solaris gamemode.

old was the best, people did just go to middle and fight
the new one is boring, too large gap, so people get bored and suicide.
I mean in all the time I did play this map, you do not win by team fight. One of the teams always have guys who run and die, then the rest of the team gives up and goes in the open field and get crushed.

Old Frozen City was extremely repetitive.
We already have over 9000 brawling maps in the game. To have one map where both brawling and sniping can be succesful is a breath of fresh air.
Please don't change a thing, PGI. Give your new map designers a pat on the back.
...Which brawling maps do we have left?
RIP Frozen Night

Seriously, all the old maps were still playable, weren't "broken", just inconvenient for some unimaginative silly ninnies who insisted on the Nascar mentality, or whom apparently couldn't turn their 'mechs left or right more than 3 degrees from their original facing.
I liked OLD River City, OLD Caustic Valley, OLD Forest Colony, et al (well, except for OLD Bog, rather been punched in the phallus by a dwarf than play on that one).
Never understood why PGI just threw those away...

Likely an art and asset thing
Either same names, or old textures replaced entirely
I don't like it

or close the river put more buildings there to just make the city map bigger.
or make both teams spawn at the city and not across the river so that the city part across the river is acting as a palce for lights and snipers to sneak to and flank.
but the spawns make the river basically the omnipresent front in like 95% of the games and this killed like 60% of the map where no one is ever going to or shooting from

Imo it was far better than this snipefest that the new FC is

Yes, one of the few brawl maps where you had a distinct advantage if you ran such a mech. Therefore I'd love to have it back instead of these peek-a-boo maps which are in the rotation

So what if the old maps get the new textures, they'll have the same configuration/layout, but just "look better"...
