Hey just wanted to talk about the quirks. Trying to be constructive instead "ogmflskdjgfklsgf bad quirks!"

1. I would like to see an armor quirk on the arms. Phoenix Hawks are "arm weapon-centric". Other mechs that rely on arm weapons have armor quirks...actually I think most of them do. And considering the Phoenix Hawk is smaller than most I would highly recommend it. I'd like to see a +8 to +10 armor on all variants. That's really not THAT much. But it will make the mech more viable. I'd like to see +2 more structure to everything on all variants. ESPECIALLY the Hero mechs. The Hero variants are really really lacking. I mean I hardly see any in game.

2. Weapons quirks. I'm not exactly going to ask for MORE persay. But maybe more generalized ones. Instead of "medium laser 20% cooldown." Maybe "energy 10%-15% cooldown". Though I realize that variant already has a 10% cooldown for large pulses. I think that would draw more people to play that variant...or mech in general. Again I don't think it's pushing any limits. As for the machine gun quirks...eeeehhh...hardly anybody uses those. Most people I've talked to think its a joke. I'd like to see like a 5%-%10 ballistic...cooldown or velocity or range...something like that instead. Energy range 10%-15% instead of +20 medium laser range. There's other examples but I hope I'm being reasonable on them.

3. Maneuverability quirks. These seem fine to me. I wouldn't touch them. I mean if you want to bump them up I wouldn't argue xD. But I sincerely doubt that PGI would increase it.

4. Structure quirks. I'd like to see a bit more like I said earlier. I mean I'm not too worried about it. But I would like to see +2 to +3 on all body parts for the Hero mechs at least.

5. Scaling. You can argue the balanced volume all you want but it just simply isn't good for the mech. I would like to see it smaller. Not ALOT smaller but a little shorter like the Vindicator. They both are 45 tons and have jumpjets and similar firepower (sorta). Not sure what the problem would be there. If I REALLY had it my way I'd like to see the head of the Phoenix Hawk equal to the total height of the Blackjack with the Hawk's jumpjet stacks sticking up taller. Again you can repeat "standardized" all you want but it just simply isn't going to attract pilots. And then PGI...you will have wasted countless hours on creating a mech that nobody uses (relatively). I would not let that go to waste.

I think the implementation of these would really increase the number of Phoenix Hawks in game. Sadly about 75% of the people I talk to in game (and forums) hate the thing. I've even seen "sell it" "glass cannon not worth it" "would rather a Blackjack" "why bother if you can pilot a Blackjack". I don't think I'm asking for too too much. Please let me know what you other guys think. Thank you.

WTF, why Heromechs only? The heromechs got similar hardpoints/loadouts than the other PHXs, so if their playstyle needs additional armour, then ALL THE OTHER Phoenix Hawks will need that armour, TOO!

Heromechs only will just lead to P2W-sentiment. And they're right. You could possibly argue that the topdog needs that HP-quirks because he is more brawl-oriented by his weapons and offensive quirks, but it becomes absolutely ludicrous when you look at the Oxide, which does nothing different than all the other Jenners besides having higher DPS and to "compensate" is the only Jenner in the game with armour quirks.
Oh, surely because all those laser jenners pick on their opponents from half a mile apart while the Oxide has to get close to do his dirty work.
NOT!

@quirks:

The only(!) generalized weapons quirk I would like to see is something like -10% heat generated.
In all honesty, this mech is so similar to Blackjacks and Cicadas, it seems weird someone got the idea it would fare better with these slight quirks than it's brethren did before they got their quirks.

I like the idea of specialiced weapons quirks because it helps to differentiate the mechs from each other. It's so sad to see the Wolfhounds, each one running a set of medium lasers with the odd one running a set of large lasers.
And given the "aptitude" of machineguns these days, the PHX needs quirks on ballistics to make these slots worthwile. Like, as a comparison, the BJ-1.
-20% ballistic cooldown
-20% AC2-heat
and then pls add the ammunition quirk. Every ton spent on ammunitions hurts a medium mech twice.

Phoenix hawks are fast heavy scout mechs...they are NOT brawlers. The Blackjacks and Vindicators do that better already in the 45ton size. In fact they've now made the vindicators better in that regard. And in the lore, no phoenix hawk ever used anything but MGs for ballistic weapons, so it doesn't deserve any quirks not related to MGs. This isn't METABUILDwarrior online.

Heres the thing with the acceldeceel quirks: W and S dont throttle fast enough to make use of them. You need to use 100% throttle and invert key binds to capitalize on them. Especially the 3S with MASC. Once you do the thing zips around.

MGs need to get better. The ROF quirks with multiples make them acceptable but not great.

accel and decel quirks work just fine it depends on the controller you use. The keyboard is the absolute worst for movement

Instead try a joystick left hand and mouse in the right. the joystick forward and back work as the throttle and left and right turn the legs in this way you actually do take advantage of the quirks and its much better way to move. I can actually just walk backwards around a map with out looking back just by using the mini map.

like the guy who started this thread you need to look at the role or the best tool for the job rather than taking a hammer and trying to bash it into the hole regardless of shape.
