Face it. Everyone knows that the 10s and 5s are op (the 20s jam every other shot so they're fine), but no one complained because they were always mounted on a dire wolf, which is clunky and slow and super large, with no shield arms and awful twist speed. Anything else couldn't field more than two of them without dropping armor or losing out on ammo, so they weren't a big issue.
Now that we have a better dire wolf (can you guess which mech it is?), you can have your 4 uac10s with plenty of ammo to last the entire match while only downgrading the engine slightly. You get two massive shield arms out of the deal and a tall frame that can poke over hills effectively; your torso twist speed is phenomenal and our armor is full. Your structure quirks keep you in the fight longer (why the **** did you give the kodiak structure quirks?! AAAAAAAA) and your speed is usually in the 60s without speed tweak. And despite there being a warning about ghost heat when firing more than 2 clan uacs at a time, you can alpha them pretty much nonstop and never overheat unless you're just getting that many targets.
I was stomping around in an IS heavy with full leg armor, 50% structure bonuses, and no ammo stored there on HPG manifold, right? So this kodiak is around the corner and I try to keep out of sight, yeah? Well, it was next to one of those ramps with the tiny gaps only a locust can squeeze through, and my feet were showing. SO he legs me in under 2 seconds and destroys the other in another 2 seconds (they didn't jam, obviously), and then proceeds to turn around to the shadow cat that had been poking him in the back and kills it in one volley to the CT.
I know this is a lot of complaining and bellyaching here, but come on. This is ridiculous and everyone who plays this game that either pilots a 4 uac10 kodiak or gets to be on the receiving end for a grand 4 seconds knows it.
/endrant
Yes I have kodiaks myself and I tried the ballistib**** build. It's disgusting how good it is and I haven't been touching those mechs again out of respect for how much they can unbalance a match in the right pilot's hands. I'd rather fight an atlas in the new jenner.

Because the Kodiak itself is fine, it's the fact that clan uac 10s don't generate any heat, even when firing 4 of them. They don't jam very often either. Give them a platform like the kodiak, now they're an issue.

Ultra-10s incur ghost heat at 3 or more firing at once (or within a half second). Pairs can be chained to avoid the ghost heat if you use a fire command macro (or just don't be in the habit of clicking two different mouse buttons at the same time) but the moment you double-tap them...hello ghost heat. Doubletap all four and you're heading for a shutdown real quick. To get four ultra-10s in though you have to downspec the engine rating, so the mech ends up slower. Quad-5s can be done without an engine change but then its no different than a mauler with quad 5s.

Not to gloat or anything, but I was right. UAC10s weren't incurring ghost heat at all! I feel like UAC5s are a little l lenient as well when spamming 5 of them on a dire wolf even though the penalty warning comes up at "more than two."

yeap, that that will be fixed in the July 19th patch. And here all along I thought the players were cycling the groups. The Kodiak though, quirks or no quirks, benefited from high weapon placement with that number of ballistics. Plus they can still equip their cXL engine due to the size of the cUAC10s.
