So been playing for a couple of months and have figured most things out by trial and error. That being said I have a qustion that I dont quite have worked out.

How do you target Air Strike? I just got up to tier 3 and have been improving a bit all the time. I am finding that at tier 3 pilots are figuring out builds and how to manage heat. Its still a grab bag of skill and not perfect. That being said Air Strikes and UAVs are being used more and more. Think I have a handle on UAVs but when I use an Air Strike I don't know what the hell I am doing. I can call it in but not sure where it is going....LOOK OUT :).

Any help would be appreciated.

Air strikes and arti strikes will pop a red marker where your arm reticle is pointing at (circle portion of your aiming hud) within 4 seconds the attack will hit the red marker. Air strikes blast a strip of ground heading the opposite direction you were in when you activated air strike. Arti strikes bombard the area around the marker. Both have their uses but I tend to favor arti strikes more

Airstrikes are the hard mode of strike consumables - I recommend that you use Artillery Strikes instead. Air strikes deal more damage in their area, but that area is a small line rather than a large circle. Additionally, the airstrike spawns a jet that flies across the sky, giving warning to the enemy even if they cannot see the smoke.

Bear in mind that no matter which strikes you use, the strike will drop straight down out of the sky - exploding on the first thing that they hit. This limits strikes (you can't use them to interdict a Scouting extraction zone in Faction Play, for example, because they hit the dropship,) but also opens up some fun tricks, particularly combined with Seismic Sensor (which you should nearly always be using.) You can place your smoke under someone standing on top of a multi-level structure (like in Crimson Strait) and they'll never see it coming. My favorite thing to do with an Artillery Strike is to drop it on a UAV that's just been put up by people camping behind something. The smoke will drop literally on top of them, and I have just enough time to kill their UAV before it lands. >:]

Thanks for the responses. Seems like I will have a bit more to work with the next run.

My only question is when you are targeting the strike (either one) you aim with your targeting reticule? So line of sight of the target is instant and you hit the key and bang it is going to strike there?

if you drop a strike it hits where your arm reticule is pointing, so if that is aimed at an "invisible" wall the strike could easily land on you rather than your target, it is best to aim at the ground rather than the Mech because if the reticule is on the Mech and it moves slightly so the reticule is pointing between arm and torso the strike could drop 1km behind the target.

if you see the enemy lined up, or behind cover, that is when you use an Air Strike, if the enemy are clustered together then Artillery will be more effective.
