Well.

If you are going to add a Kick mechanic.

You may as well add a punch mechanic.

And if you're going to add a punch then you need to add a swing mechanic ... in which case ....

Best solution?
Add a "Kick" mechanic.
We can then add a new game mode too: "Locust Soccer".

How about headbutting? The locust has the perfect size for surprise ballbutts.

The irony here is: the people who had problems targeting light mechs before and gloated about the double nerf lights got...suddenly realize they have a real pest instead stinging their fat butts: the locust. Sorry, but I have to admit to be guilty of Schadenfreude.

What does this have to do with my response to Vocifer's comment of basically, "Just let your team shoot the locust and you'll be fine?"

The problem is you have certain fan boys and players of MWO who think that lights should be nothing more than cannon fodder to increase their skill. If it were up to them every light that dropped would have an XL 50 as an engine so they can beef up their K/D Ratio.

I would hate them less if collisions were fixed so you no longer warp through Mechs and Mechs take more significant (physics based) collision damage (yes I would even be ok with leaving knockdowns out). Also hit detection needs to be tuned again, there is no reason a shutdown Locust should be able to take 9 MPLs to the CT at point-blank range and survive.

And you have shooter kiddies who want lights to be able to outrun and out-tank assaults.

Sorry, but that was one of the dumbest statements. Several light mechs e.g. Jenner IIC, Huginn have zero agility quirks, a Wolfhound has a 5% turn rate while being larger after the patch and getting a worse movement archtype whereas mechs like the Catapult have *drumroll* Turn Rate 25%, Yaw 10% or Marauder Turn Rate 35%, Yaw 45%.

How about addressing those ridiculously bloated quirks on the heavies so that they actually act like heavies?

Hey, lights and mediums shouldn't kill heavies and assaults, right, even when those have zero situational awarness and cannot aim? *eyeroll* No worries, I am sure PGI obliges.

This is part of the problem. Everyone is complaining about how large Lights are and how OP the Locust is (it hasn't really changed) and the Arctic Cheeter. Well, here is the thing. I spent this entire weekend getting eaten by Lights of all sizes <pun - ZING!> as I was using the double XP weekend to level up my Riflemen. Know how hard it is to kill a fast as all get out Light mech with a Heavy mech that has zero basics? I'll clue you in, it sucks. It is doable but it is freaking hard. Now, in case you all missed it, the problem is that, without the basics, I move like hot sh!t in a bucket. Throw in double basics and I'm fine. This is the disconnect. Everyone wants to pilot Heavy mechs because they're fast enough, maneuverable enough, and tough enough while also packing a lot of weapons. Do you think the percentages might change if they moved like a day 1 non-basic mech?

You can't say that in 'Merican?

In my last MWO session my shadowcat was teamkilled by some "friendlies" trying to get a said locust off me.... Just a sea of slow burning lasers and AC rounds blowing up all around my mech. Yeah thanks for the help guys. Got that locust dead alright...NOT.

I guess we were talking about heavies/assaults and their blind spots... In light/medium brawl you can get a FF by accident, not big news for me.

If you're in a heavy/assault - put your back to the wall and stay still, the thing will likely just run away when someone scratches it.

Not in this thread. Here it's pretty much fatties complaining that lights can outrun them. And it's also been well established in this thread that locusts can't tank.

At all.

In case you need a refresher:

I'm sorry, but just because you can't hit another mech doesn't mean it outtanks you.

As Wayne Gretzky said,

"You have infinite armor for all of the enemies' shots you dodge."

Or something like that.

My main complaint was that multiple times since the locust was resized, I have fired at completely stationary, shut down (overheated) locusts with more than enough damage to destroy whatever component I was aiming at and not having the shots register. My ping is relatively stable and 100ms or lower at most times, although, I guess the target could have been lagging (which is definitely a hit reg issue).

BTW - I regularly drop with BabyCakes666

I actually haven't had that much trouble killing the new LCTs.

That being said, I liked Locusts back before they were "cool." Posted Image

My issue with the Locust is not that it got a huge survivability buff, which is fine in itself, but EVERY OTHER LIGHT (save the Commando, Cheetah, Mist Lynx, and Kit Fox) got nerfed! They got easier to hit, but with no corresponding buff to compensate. Even mechs that were known to be complete garbage even before the rescales were nerfed. Did Spiders need a nerf? The Panther? The Adder? The goddamn Urbanmech? What the hell was PGI thinking?

I have not met a light yet that can out tank an assault.

See this hostility right here? This is why good light jocks learn the head hit boxes of every assault. Go ahead line that killing shot up. Hope you didn't strip any armor off your head or take more than a few laser grazes.

Not really hostility, I respect the good light pilots because I'm no good in them. Just got a little annoyed because they seemed to hit me from every possible angle. I always have full head armor on heavies and assaults so he wouldn't have headshotted me.
