There is lore and there is pgi. In this game pgi is lore.
They do know way better what is good for us than we do.
So don't ask about ew pods, buy the next mechpack instead.

Yeah not like there's a Dire Wolf with ECM (cough C variant cough) in lore!

Honestly.. with the kodiak out... I'd being willing to put that variant on the PTS and see if it's completely OP like we all fear. Not willing to let it go live first though.

Only one I would like would be an ECM pod for the Direwolf, that's about it. I think there is a real varriant as well...*brb checking sarna o.O*

THE strongest light. By far.
How much time do you spend in lights? It's a solid option, possibly the current best, but not "by far." I actually still prefer the Jenner to it. Its CT is a bullet magnet but at least it doesn't lose half it's guns the first time it's looked at. And I'd definitely choose the current locust over one.

OP: ECM is nice, but not critical. On most maps it makes next to no difference. If it makes such a difference to your gameplay, you're probably using it as a crutch and should work on positioning.

ECM is still a PITA. When your target has it, and you don't - yup.

There is a kodiak variant that is not even viable? The standards are high these days.

You are aware that the warhammer outperforms the KDK-5 with every variant according to the leaderboards in the archives right?

And this is why we need an all chassis leaderboard event. It would make it a lot easier to determine power levels without having to check if what quirk update everything is on.

Ok then how about the KDK-5 is on par with half the archer variants with worse drop off per player? I don't remember reading about a nerf to it anywhere and have seen multiple comments about it not being a good platform. Oh wait I found the original quirk sheet and all the numbers went up for that variant despite it being 30 tons lighter than the 5.

IS LRMs and SRMs inflating the Archer scores. I managed to get into rank 22 in the ARC-5W leaderboard with 8xLRM5s. PGI should ideally take KDK-3's quirks and give them to KDK-5, but ECM? Fuggetaboutit.

If ECM acted more like how it did on table top and less like the null signature system, I can't see why it wouldn't be available for all 'mechs, like the active probes.

Traditionally Clans were suppose to be able to mount ECM on pretty much everything. Is there any particular reason why there is next to zero availability for Clan mechs to mount ECM?

Just wondering.

Arctic Cheetah
Myst Lynx
Kitfox
Shadowcat
Hellbringer

And here is what you overlooked.

They are all OMNIMECHS.

You will not be stuck with an undesirable hardpoint configuration in exchange for having the ECM. You can tailor the build to nearly any playstyle you wish.

Let's use the Arctic Cheetah vs I.S. light ECM mechs.

Raven 3L is generaly used for either a NARC platform or a Laser sniper. Both of these roles are available to the Arctic Cheetah and the Cheetah can do them better.

Commando 2D is well honestly irrelivavent. But the Arctic Cheetah can carry a stylisticly similar loadout. With superior firepower and mobility to the Commando.

Spider 5D is also completely outclassed by the Arctic Cheetah. The Arctic Cheetah is simply a better spider.

Locust PB is smaller and faster but lacks payload and jump capacity. It is also behind a pay wall due to being a Hero Mech. Still over all the Arctic Cheetah is probably a better choice but enough differences in performance characterisitics exist between these two chassis that an argument can be made that the PB may suit some situations better than an Arctic Cheetah.

The Clans may have fewer chassis choices (currently) to Inner Sphere when it comes to ECM but the clans have Omnimechs to configure those few chassis to suit any desired role. The Inner Sphere pilot has to take what they get.

You exagerate about "half it's guns" The common 6x sml pulse or ER smal laser builds has it's weapons spread fairly evenly across both arms and the torso with 2 RA 1 RT 1 LT 2 LA.If you lose both arms or and arm and torso "the first time it's looked at" then you may want to either move or use armor :P

I have spent a great deal of time in light mechs and the Arctic Cheetah is an excellent chassis and may be not far from being the best overall chassis "by far" .

Speed ....check
Mobility...check
firepower...check
Versitility...check
ECM...check

Of that list tell me how often you see list lynx or not foxes running about? I see maybe one totally in about 12 matches throughout a night, as they are both not great choices and no amount of pod swapping redeems them. Cheetahs are dangerous either extremely up close with SPL or slightly longer range with ERML. Either build suffers greatly when your opponent mounts an AC20 which is very popular especially on scout modes for FP, granted not so much for QP unless you can mount a bunch of ammo. The sad cat is a meh much that relies entirely on jump jets and oddball builds to do well, such as 2 ERPPCs and is an anoyance at best in experienced play. The hellbringer is pretty good but that still leaves clans way short on ECM capability even given omnipod options, since we have essentially 2 mechs people will actually run on purpose.

Clealy that shows warhammers are good (one of the best heavies even after rescale) and not that kodiak 5 is bad. Warhammers are one of the best mechs in game even after the rescale and small other nerfs. Also if I'd have to pick any warhammer or a kodiak 5 and duel I'd take kodiak 5. No question about that.

And archers get high scores due to doing good damage in few games where there are players who don't understand that you cannot just stand in lrm rain. You can do easy 400 damage to any player who doesn't take cover when you lock them. With the kodiak 5 you'd have to shoot bad on purpose to do even half that against one opponent. Matchscore is not a good representation of mechs power or player skill. Also on the leaderboards you get the same points no matter who you shoot and the scores are not your averages but usually your 10 best games. LRM boats always do good in leaderboard events if you just have enought time to play.

I have seen a grand total of four kdk 1 and 0 kdk 5 over the last week even though I play semi religiously due to insomnia and lack of other things to do. Every other kdk variant pops up (granted more 3 and SB) at least every other day. Mechs that are shelved aren't there because they are good.
