I'm pretty sure one of the devs said someplace there would be Track IR support.

They did. And this was after the April Fool's photoshop disaster. XD

It was in an exclusive article on some gaming website that I can't remember for the life of me, but they did say there was TrackIR support.

+100 for the trackers! especially the free versions!

GPL tracking software? Nice, this is something to look into.

Thank you for confirming I was not just going insane  To be honest. Consider how free-look inside the cockpit will work, and that looking at the readouts from the monitors and not just the HUD will give you extra info, TrackIR makes perfect sense.

I wonder how well it would work with a 'Kinect' It should be able to track your head, or any body movement without the need to wear a headpiece for tracking.

I've used track ir in alot of flight sims and the immersive gameplay is complelling,
I would certainly love to see it implemented in MWO

I am currently waiting for my (overdue) delivery of parts to build a Freetrack head unit mostly for playing IL-2 but really hope it is supported by MWO.

Bringing this back to the top... has anyone seen official statements stating this will be included? Can we track down these articles; if you've read them and can link please post.

Thanks!

I use TrackIR5 in Aces High (WW2 flight sim) and Rise of Flight (WW1 Flight Sim). I would love TrackIR support for MWO. Especially if I can tie the arm aim points to the head tracking.

Even if MWO does not have native support for head tracking hardware (headset, camera, etc), are any of the hardware drivers or software able to emulate mouse or joystick movement/inputs that could translate into the same desired result of "look" functionality?

Well as long as the look function isn't like mw4 then there shouldn't be a problem with emulating it

Hey, sorry I can't remember now. There is no official statement, but their are comments from devs on the forums which make clear their desire to introduce support for a whole bunch of peripherals.

I've been using TrackIR for about 2,5 years now and I must say it really needs to be implemented in this game. Any game that has you in a cockpit of something (plane/car/mech) needs TrackIR support. It greatly helps the immersion :)

Actually, whenever I play Rise of Flight now without TrackIR I feel severely handicapped ;)

Roger Cobra,
You nailed it with that statement.
Rise of Flight has to be one of toughest FS out there also.
Sux not having more HP/Weight..lol.
WWII era and or Jets are more complex but easier to fly IMO.

Yes to TIR. Be nice for just looking around the cockpit, but would be super if they could tie it in to the arms. Shoot the mech in your torso reticle, then look 15 degrees to the right and blast his buddy with your arm mounted weapons wothout swinging your torso away from the first and still be travelling in a totally different vector.

From another IL2/RoF pilot.

Problem with that WRAP thing. 720p from 10' away means you won't be able to really see or read anything, LOL.
