On thursday CW match.......full 12 man premade vs. pug group. The long tom on the pug group side. Result:
12 man team annihilated, pug lost 2/3 of their group.
Best player: Long Tom Artillery:
28 mechs (out of 48 totally killed) of the premade group and
13 of the pug group
if the pugs had just waited it out they would have lost way less mechs whlie we were annihilated by long tom.
Edit: The one hit kills all including assaults is......................is that a long tom or a nuke?

When it was on my side they couldnt even open the door, we had to open it ourselves. If we hadnt and they had to go through the chokepoint we wouldnt have suffered any losses. It was like 20-0 when we just blindly rush their spawn, we died too and just conga line back one by one, it didnt matter at this point, we had won before the fight started. It wasnt fun, it was embarrassing.

Yepp if the pugs had stayed back they wouldnt have suffered any losses at all....so.....we used the long tom to take them with us even as we just lcosed into brawl range every time the long tom came.
I really dont think that is how its intended to work (long tom). and it auto killed everything in range (the first time full 10 men)

The problem is not the Long Toms, the problem is that there are so many merc groups dropping for CJF that IS can not field enough scouts on the contested planets to ever unlock the Long Tom for ourselves.

Counter those with SRM Griffins, Shadow Hawk's, Trebuchets and Oxides.

Seems not to work when there's 4 of them in a 4-man team. They focus fire and of course every single missile hits.
EDIT: just had a match where I was first to be focused down in my SRM Griffin-2N with ECM. I shot precisely two salvos of SRMs in the 15 seconds before I was dead. It's not possible to spread damage from upwards of 96 simultaneous Streak missiles, particularly on an open map like Polar Highlands.

Streak Crows are beatable, but no one wants to listen to how you beat them. Its been repeated on this thread and others several times.
Having said that, understand you may still lose *some*, but that's fair right? If IS was unbeatable, it wouldn't be fun for clams...
So one more time:
Don't run a light w/o high speed (145kph+) + ecm
Better, run fast, brawly, high damage, 50-55 tom mediums like a Griffin 3M with 4x srm4s and an XL355
Go for those Crow legs (no structure/armor quirks)
Stay in a mini deathball, collect intel when you can, but stay together
Skill Crow Weaknesses:
Damage Spread - Streaks can't focus on component, so if you are fresh, don't panic it will be hard to kill you fast.
Slow Cooldown - Even with CD module, it takes a long time to fire
Range - While better than normal SRMs, it will almost never be able to hit at 400m+ (hence the high speed lights)
No arc - If you use cover, they won't be able to hit you like w/ LRMs.
AMS - They can alpha once, maybe twice, but after that they will need to cool or chain fire. If they chain fire, AMS can further reduce their damage.
Bottom line is that Streak Crows have a low skill requirement, but they are a one trick pony. You can find ways to counter this...
The most important trick is using teamwork...
So much this. I've always been dumbfounded when people complain about Streak Crows. I get they're super powerful against quite a lot of 'mechs, but they're absolutely no match for a Griffin 3M with 4x ASRM4's. As long as you focus on one area of the 'mech (DO NOT SHOOT THEIR ARMS!) Crows just don't even stand a chance.
If IS started 4-manning with Griffin 3M's, within a week Clanners would be starting their own "IS Scouting Needs Nerfs PGI Please!" threads all over the place. Not even joking.

Yeah right now CJF and CGB have longtom. Why would we drop against them now? You are not getting that matchscore against longtom. CW is probably going to have Longtom against them so they wont drop and CSJ is working towards a longtom in their favor.
So, as a southern house with no attack lane to the clans. . . we have no viable fronts for this event.

Streaks are not a problem, just players who can't run into the dropzone when the timer is at 0:10 and when you loose because of this.
Streaks still have a much longer cooldown than normal SRMs and with quirks you can fire up to twice as often as the streaker. Also, you can target their legs with normal SRMs, they can't. And when you have trouble hitting them with your SRMs, well try to lead and work to get better.
Thanks for the free mech (bay), PGI.

Lets be honest, if the other team is focusing on one target, unless they brought underpowered mechs, it doesn't matter what they drop on you.
The biggest thing with streaks is trying to keep them all in front of you as back armor tends to be considerably less robust.
The other thing is TO FORM A MINI DEATHBALL... If you are off on your own (and I'm saying you specifically were), them of course they'll focus you.
Safety in numbers...

Or have upgraded turrets or fortify the gens. Imagine if gens didn't have little box houses unless you earned it.

The high level scouting reward should be a massive advantage, but at least make them do the dirty work too finish the opponents off.

That's an interesting idea, but we'd have to work out how the "houses" appear/disappear when the scouting bounces above/below the threshold to activate...
