Then the mercenaries switch to the Inner Sphere and the problem repeats itself. A better solution is to compare Faction stats, and give the disadvantaged Faction more Gather Intel missions. This would give them more opportunities to get or disable the Long Tom, while the Faction with more players and more highly rated units must play more Protect Intel missions.

This should help balance Faction Play on every front, provided that the probability of getting a Gather Intel mission is dynamically determined by faction stats or at least reset on a regular basis.

Stop spending money on the game. At the very least don't buy any mech packs. That would be the best way.

The problem is that it sucks to play against, or with, the Long Tom. Whether or not one needs to "learn to scout" or get good is entirely irrelevant. As long as this thing is in game in the current state, it's going to nuke the dwindling player base just like it does mechs.

I run a four man group, and generally have to command about 8 pugs, and as it sits the LT is going to put me out of business if it stays in game.

if you notice. many times it likes to target one person in the drop. I've had it kill just me in 3 different locations. and I've been in drops where it has followed another player around as well.

When LT tags you, you are it.

I've found that even following the teachings of Leroy Jenkins does not protect you against the [Long Tom].

Imagine you are on Grim portico, doing your best Leroy Jenkins, you run through the left gate well ahead of your team, between the spires, into the protection of the trench.
Then old Tom reaches out and touches you.
No amount of walls or obstacles will protect you.
Figured it'd be better to go 1 on 12 than get touched by the [Long Tom].
No such luck.

Yes, you are right!. My post about this topic disapear because of some names I give to Long Tom and rude language.
I will not spend any further bucks on this game (and I have spend MANY!) until they fix the scout mode and get rif of long tom.
As long as people spend money and buy mechpacks or MC everything is fine for PGI. They must think everything is fine and how should they know that something is wrong? (we know that they do not play the game (#MapGate!) or read in the forum)

And maybe I am wrong and most of the players are happy to be nuked by Long Tom?

I guess the point is that Scouting has too much influence on Invasion once 90% reached. As far as I remember, scouting should have an influence on invasion but not that far that it is game breaking. We all know that the stormcrow is the best omni clans get and rough said. you don't need much to learn how to master a crow.

I would not go far to say to remove LT, because it's funny. However, give invasion mode player the option to reset or lower the gather intel bar so that LT has to be intelled again. e.g. for each win of invasion troops the intel bar is pushed back by 10%.

By the way. Reducing to 45 tons is stupid. I want my Kintaro, Shadowhawk, Centurion, Griffin, Wolverine usable at least in Scout mode. They just need better buffs.

You have some good idea but LT in the current state isn´t funny at all. It is the opposite of fun. It is so unfunny, so stupid and so game breaking that it will be for me the reason to quit the game mode. Everytime I see LT I can not believe what PGI have done :-(

And you can play any mech in QP. Shadowhawk and Wolverin and all the other perform there well. Some builds are even viable for FP. Or rename the Scouting Game mode to Medium SRM Brawl and cut his terrible influence on FP. Whatever... but the killing of the FP must be stopped now. The game must be fixed. The fun must be brought back.
