I think one of the most challenging things here is when you are the last one alive of the team facing half the enemy team. Till now I had several such matches but never managed to win one (OK this is almost impossible if enemies are good players).

Last week I was playing with 2ERLL Cheetah in Crimson Strait map (skirmish), match was 7-5 on our side when I had a phone cal I had to answer. when I returned to the match the score had turned upside down : 7-11. enemy started to search for the "hiding coward"... I snipe them one by one but time run out before I could locate the last one so match ended as draw (11-11).

The exact same "scenario" happened yesterday, while piloting a Battlemaster : Crimson Strait (skirmish), score was again 6-5 and again a phone call, so I drop down to water at B5 area to avoid detection while I was off keyboard. When I came again to match, the score once more had changed to 6-11 (my luck.....) and enemies started to search for that last kill... too bad for them they were too greedy and went one by one ... forgetting there is a sweet module called seismic sensor..This time I managed to kill all 6 of them and win the match against the odds
I'm only sorry I couldn't help my teammates earlier and also sorry for the red guys who may believed they would had a easy win....

Spoiler

I only wish I could record such matches, but my pc is quite low end, barely able to run MWO in low settings

Those kind of matches are the kind of matches i like the most. It's kinda weird to like a match were i'm on the side that is most likely to lose.
But i can't help it. The thrill of fighting alone against so many is the most entertaining part of MWO. I barely care whether i win or lose under these conditions.

All i care about is maintaining my adrenaline high...that and grinning like a delusional megalomaniac drunk on mayhem and destruction. XD

Spleenslitta you read my mind ! You are absolutely right about the adrenaline.
And the strange thing is that I fight better when I'm alone than when more members of my team are around. Can't explain this but I get better scores and more kills this way even if I (more often than not) die in the end.

Whenever I take a phone call while playing I go into hard-core mode, one hand on the phone, the other hand piloting my mech.

Good of you to salvage 1 match. Brutal losing because of an afk event. Often 1 mech inactive is enough to cost you the game.

I fight better alone too. As a matter of fact i receive a lot less incoming fire because of it so i avoid my team like they got the plague.
So i went all out and made myself a set of tactics that revolved around being alone.

Here is a guide i made http://mwomercs.com/...-tactics-guide/
Be warned that it is a textwall monster spanning 5 posts with maps and explanations.

The really neat thing about my M.R.M.A. tactics is that the latest fashions in mech builds doesn't matter at all.
Especially if you build a mech capable of striking at all ranges.
I got a Kit Fox with 1 ER PPC, 1 ERML, 1 ERSL, 4xMG's, ECM and JJ's.
It can adapt to most situations and have a fair chance of survival.

When i first made my tactics i used a Jenner with a mix of ML and SL and a 300XL engine.
I discovered that focusing purely on short or long range was riskier than having a bit of everything.
With short range builds i got hunted down by light mechs or simply surrounded a lot more.
My attacks where more devastating but they were far less frequent and more risky.

Long range builds was more vurnerable to big mechs predicting where i would appear next with predictable results.

Matches like this are the reason I still love playing this game. It always gives me a feeling of the Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance intro. You lose them often, but the damage you put up against the enemy is always amazing, and on the rare times you do win its the best thing.

My favorite two matches as last man were me in my Executioner 1v7 in group queue against a 12 man team. After a very fierce brawl, more twisting than I've ever done, and some of the most focused aim I've had I managed to come out of it alive with a victory for the team.

Second favorite was me in my Arctic Cheetah as last man against 4 enemies, an Arctic Cheetah I'd fought earlier and took the arms from, a Catapult, a Timber Wolf, and a Mauler I'd made angry early game by taking one of his sides. I managed to finish off the enemy ACH quick when he jumped up to hit me with not much left on him except a red CT and 2 small lasers. The Catapult and Timber Wolf I managed to take out by doing a lot of jumping at close range, dodging behind cover, and general light mech shenanigans. It all ended in an epic battle between me and the Mauler. It started with my CT opened up in the red from a hit he put on my CT when I killed the Catapult, He had an AC20 and 2 SRM4s left over with armor yellowed on his CT and remaining ST. I couldn't put that victory up to anything more than luck that I survived against him with what little health I had. The enemy team congratulated my piloting and my team cheered.

I only wish I could play at that level or with that luck all the time, but I guess its too taxing on the mind.

Yeah. It is taxing to stay unpredictable at all times and still be aggressive enough to do lot's of damage while keeping safety and risks in mind.

Being praised by both enemy and allies for fighting well is nice. I remember one guy calling me a loon because i had been tearing into an Atlas from all kinds of angles that made no sense.
Best compliment he could give me. I'll remember that till the day i joyfully do bunnyhops into my grave.
