I don't think the highlander is really all that special...but I had bought the Heavy Metal Hero mech, so...This was back before they nerfed Gauss with the time delay. So it was basically an AC/15. I kicked *** with that thing...kills all over the place. Awesome range, jump capability, great armor and speed (I had a huge engine in it), arm-mounted AC/15 with massive range. I can see why they nerfed it.
The Hunchback and Catapult are both the most flexible Chassis in the IS lineup...I still recommend new players master those two first.

Interestingly close to mine:
Atlas (D, DDC, RS)
Cataphract (4X, 3D, 2X)
Spider (5D, 5K, 5V)
Atlas was a real pain in the *** for a first mech. The other two were fun even though I still think the 3D and 5V are garbage. This was, of course, before the Spider was made so painfully outdated by new lights.

Seriously. I can get 400+ damage, 1 solo kill and 6+ kill assist per game regularly as Commando. They are so fun if you are good at them. The solo kill is usually something like a King Crab or a Kodiak too.
But then again I'm only T4, so maybe I'm just stomping on noobs. But then again again, I've only dropped with Commando about 150 times total, so there's that as well.

No, that is the only difference. But it is a big one.
Being able to use Radar Deprivation and Seismic at the same time is such a luxury to me now.
