So I bought the mech pack ages ago that included the (V) variants for the extra FP rewards but ultimately found myself disappointed in the game mode and generally don't play it.... The recent event brought me back and I finally learned a thing or two about 'phase 3' which leads me to my question.

If my unit is a mercenary unit, and thus not loyalists, am I the victim of 'bait and switch' regarding the (V) variant mechs loyalty point awards? I just get extra Cbills and no additional benefits that were a factor in drawing me to purchase the pack in the first place?

Technically it's not bait and switch.

Since you're not actually in a specific faction... just Mercin' for it, the Loyalty bonuses don't apply to you (you're technically not loyal to the faction).

Currently, it's only useful if you're locked into a faction (perma-contract/loyalist).

The LP bonus is a total joke, since the medallions and Phoenix variants are only useful if you drop in an entire dropdeck with them. Bringing one mech or medallion only provides 1/4 of its full value (2.5% per mech - 10% max, 1.25% per medallion - 5% max)... in the grand scheme of things - it's nearly worthless.

The bonus is akin to the C-bill bonus from mechs, where you need a full dropdeck of them to benefit (30% base, 7.5% per mech with a C-bill bonus).

Mercs earn reputation points.

It is a ladder of its own with 10 ranks.

Same amount of 'Mech Bays and MC. Less C-Bills, less cockpit items and no GXP.

Yes, Mercs earn reputation points. Only loyalists earn Loyalty points and being a merc is not being loyal.
So working as intended.
