Clan ER-PPC if I am not mistaken compared to IS ER-PPC
1) Lighter
2) consume less slots
3) not sure on heat
why do they have a difference? I mean it is not like the lasers of IS/Clan which I agree on their difference.
also for IS PPC's minimum distance, I read it is because it is dangerous for PPCs to fire at close range. why not let us take damage if we fire it too close at least you give the decision to us mechwarriors to take the risk of blowing ourselves up in order to fire it at close range

Because lore. Also if they ever move the timeline forward there are snub nosed ppc's for brawling.
Feel lucky the didn't keep the Clan's at their overall tabletop power level compared to IS with the current 12 on 12 system.

Lighter by 1 ton, smaller, but generate way more heat than standard PPC. Clans have no access to standard PPC alternatives. Technically, the Clan ERPPC is supposed to fill a role very similar to a Gauss Rifle. Except very hot. 15 damage on target for 15 heat. Currently, it does 2.5/10/2.5 instead (at, what, 13.5 heat?), though Russ did state that once the new power draw mechanic is in, they might consider giving the C-ERPPC its classic punch back since they would be limiting based on damage output anyways.

Yes Lighter and takes less slots. But IS-ERPPC's benefit from the plethora of heat reduction, range and velocity quirks that just about every IS mech that ships with PPC's come with. If standard PPC's had no minimum range it may largely obsolete the ER-PPC in MWO. Especially at the velocity PPC's move without quirks most of your targets are going to be around standard PPC range. CERPPC's were already nerfed before they got put into the game. Instead of 15 full points of damage they to 10 damage and 2.5 to the left and right of the main impact zone.
