Now, to preface: Whomever runs these mechs will be on your team for FP/CW (scouting and invasion). Also, they are new to the game and need to learn, well everything so take that with a grain of salt. These are mechs I would only personally run and my taste differs from Gman129's (mostly).

Panther -10K

ERPPC, 2xSRM4s with 3.5 tons, 205XL and left side shield-ish.

Panther 10K "Harrier"

This thing was built with stamina in mind. Designed to absorb hits and last longer in team play, the XL was replaced in favor of a Standard engine to increase fighting time in game. I have often surprised opponents by not dying when either side torso is destroyed. Small Pulse lasers installed for close quarter rapid fire to augment the SRM4s in the center torso. Double heat sinks to better manage heat.

PNT-9R

Simple, fast and aggressive. Pay attention to your heat scale and focus fire on enemies's weak spots.

2LPL, XL245, 1JJ. Has nice range, duration and decent heat management.

Shave all but 1 point of armor off the left arm and put the DHS back in the engine by switching to XL 250. You get better heat dissipation and max speed this way.

PNT-10K

(This is not my official entry, just a helpful suggestion.)

Here is my Panther build and Before anyone asks the game made me put the heat sinks on "Invalid" otherwise. It is how ever a great Long to Mid range hitter as long as you can hide when it jams Posted Image or are close enough for srms

This Panther 10K will be an excellent choice for new players to get a taste of the MWO Battletech experience. Extremely powerful missile slots with decent backup lasers and a moderate amount of speed, extremely well armored for its class and high survivability.

Quick question to all. Do we all really want another case of a Champion Mech that is just like an existing Champion Mech?

Looking at the likes here, and it appears we're going to get another 2 PPC sniper, making it basically a lighter clone of the existing Vindy Champion. We already have Awesome and Battlemaster Champions that are practically identical. Isn't the point of the Champions to be trail mechs that new players can use, for free, to try different methods of play before they buy mechs of their own? And can also be bought as starting points for those types of builds.

Now I'm NOT suggesting that the build in question is BAD, I've used a similar build on my 9R. I just worry that if we get too many Champions that are built the same, new players aren't going to be free to experience enough diversity in weapons/playstyles to really identify what works best for them.

Apologies if this ruffles any feathers; just concerned about the future of the game and our player base.

There are only a few mechs with ppc quirks, this is the only light mech that can mount them properly.

Panther 10K: 2x PPC, 1x JJ, XL235
Only a few mechs can ppc and do well. This is one of them.

Panther 8K: 3x LLas, 1x JJ, XL235
Harder to use, incredible duration.

PNT-8Z
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...451374a97e1bd25

200XL, 12 DHS, endo, 1x LLAS, 2x mlas, 4x JJ, 2x SRM4.
Weapon groups:

(1) all lasers
(2) srms
(3) LLAS

or

(1) LLAS
(2) mlas
(3) srms

I wanted to submit something with full jump jets. The ability to get into or out of combat it vital. In my opinion on many maps jump ability is more important than raw speed. This unit is a 200-300 meter body guard mech. Variations might include dropping half a ton of ammo for more armor. I haven't run Panthers since the rescale so I haven't tested its armor loadout.

Helloes,

My two favorite builds:

PNT-8Z
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b6b753812b13a15

PNT-9R
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...4d9cf7ca086e8f1

I really like how these both fit to Panther lore where they nicknamed Panther as "Alley Cat". How it how it jumps and bounces on its prey, disappearing as fast as it appeared. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Panther

Both are nice support/escort for heavier mechs. I always get surprised how much better I have performed while piloting these Panthers compared to for example Jenner or Firestarter.

These builds leave something to tweak, drop jump jets, change engine, etc but they still work pretty well. Panther is durable light and it forgives some mistakes what starting players will do. Also, one little thing, some backup weapon. So you are not unarmed when your arm gets blown off. This one teaches you pretty fast to shield your arm but lets you have at least something to shoot back if you loose your arm and you have some extra firepower when needed.

Btw. I somehow see that Panther hero what is named as "Alley Cat"...

Sgraz =)

PNT-10K made for new players. This is an escort, not a scout due to lower engine cap on the PNT.
- only 2 weapon groups for ease of use
- fully armored
- BAP to help new players against ECM (I run mine with jump jets instead of BAP)
- equipped double AMS so player aids the team even when not firing
