*Mediocrity

Every time there is a mech in this game with a decent quirk setup it seems like it only lasts a few patches and then it gets beat to death with a nerfbat....

Because you know, Battlemasters and Marauders where overperforming and ruining game balance, amirightguys??

Seriously. WHO THINKS OF THESE CHANGES????

"Hey, this mech has lots of missile hardpoints...and good missile cooldown quirks to go with it...well we cant have that, lets just remove all missile quirks aaannnddd..lets add Energy cooldown (one of the MOST useless energy quirks) quirks!"

"But it only has 1 energy hardpoi...."

"ENERGY QUIRKS!!!!!"

That seems to be the thought process behind a lot of these changes. Seriously guys. If it ain't broke, dont fix it. I can understand completly if a chassis is overperforming due to being overquirked but that paltry 10% energy range on the battlemaster was pretty much all it had going for it besides Really high mounted energy hardpoints...and you took that away.

Just like last patch maulers all had great general ballistic quirks that let you pretty much run anything you wanted and you took that away. WHY? No idea. They where not imbalanced. They where not overpowering. Many if not most of us liked them the way they where. WHY do you guys keep butchering things for no apparent reason?

PGI balances based on whining, not on statistics.

Because everything must be equally mediocre. Just don't look at quirks (I know it's tempting and necessary for balance).

I'm left speechless, by the quirk buffs and nerfs, fortunately I only have to use my fingers for this.

whoever is generating the quirks in this game needs to stop being involved in this game.

This is the polite version

And then mechs that desperatly need to get buffed get ignored....

*glances lovingly at mothballed Direwolves*

I'm suprised they havent gone and removed all the ballistic quirks from King crabs and all the energy ones from Black Knights. Those will probably happen next patch.

Well, they should at least give everyone the courtesy of saying so.

I'm going to have to make a Twitter account just to ask Russ what exactly is the thought process behind their quirk decisions.

We all knew that there was going to be a re-quirk pass done after the re-scale. We all knew it would be necessary and inevitable. We all knew some Mechs were too good. PGI told us it was going to happen. I am sure the changes in this patch are just the first wave or re-quirks with more to come. No one should be surprised.

We should also not be surprised that most of the re-quirks are nerfs. There has been a lot of concern about power creep on this forum. Many of these re-quirks could be seen as a first step in reigning that in as well as adjusting for size changes. If a Mech got smaller it is probably going to lose structure quirks or agility or both. If it got bigger then it might get structure or agility quirks.

I am positive that next month's patch will bring another round of re-quirking.

It is based on a dart board but no darts, and as he rubs one off at it, whatever it hits is it. He puts the worse ideas at the bottom since those are his primary targets, as it lacks.. distance...(heard it through the grapevine...) Posted Image

And then there were the Catapults. With structure and armor buffs broken down past where they were a year ago. Because, you know, the C4 Catapult was, like, really OP with its six hardpoints.

Damn right.

When I saw what they did, I lost my temper for the first time since I started playing.I saw lots of crapy, absolutely moronic decisions being made by PGI, so I guess this one was over the top.

Because there isnt anyone there that even plays the game to understand it (or is good at it when they do). And there is a guy sitting behind a desk getting paid to balance, so job security is to keep screwing with it.

Good quirks are given to under-selling Mechs.
