We only have one IS 95 tonner in game, so I was looking at some possible additions. I know not all of these are totally in timeline but they're close-ish. I've also avoided Omni's as currently Pgi is reluctant to add IS Omni's.

#1 is the Cerberus: http://www.sarna.net...rus_(BattleMech)

#2 is the Albatross: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Albatross

#3 is the Naginata: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Naginata

#4 is my personal preference, the Nightstar: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Nightstar

Which of these would be the best addition to the game? I really like the Nightstar but the Cerberus is a close 2nd.

There is also only one Clan 95t mech in game. The only serious option is the Turkina.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Turkina

It's not very inspiring when compared to the Dwolf or Kodiak.

If we jump ahead somewhat and add some tech these beasts await us.
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Sagittaire
This would be a flipping monster death machine.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hauptmann
One of the few well designed IS Omni's.

http://www.sarna.net...per_(BattleMech)
Would be fun but needs tons of new technology and is waaaay far out timeline wise.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Tenshi
Looks interesting but we'll probably never see it in game.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Pendragon
Fire support mech, decent spread of hardpoints.

The Nightstar and the Cerberus would most conform to the current meta of Ballistic/energy combo. The Nightstar would be probably the best choice with its relatively high hardpoints and Marauder-esque profile.

The Albatross with its mix of ballistic, energy and missile hardpoint would play as overgrown Orion.

The Naginata is just a big missile boat. So something as certain Stalker, Highlander and Mauler variants.

The Sagittaire would have its uses, but personally I would get bored soon with a 'Mech that lets me use only energy weapons. (Yes, I know that one model is armed with a pair of LBX-10 Autocannons - but that would mean waiting until PGI codes switchable ammo)

The Hauptmann is good, especially as OmniMech.

Personally I have never liked the Peacekeeper too much. Too high BV for it brings to the table and weak armament for its weight, plus additional one or two bad design decisions.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Down the timeline we can find two more biped 95-tonners:
  • The Pendragon
  • The Tenshi (the second IS 95 ton OmniMech)
If you don't mind, I would like to mention two Quad 95-tonners that will probably never be in MWO:
  • The Sirocco
  • The Trebaruna

i played my banshee last night because i needed to run c mechs for the event. it turned into a very enjoyable 2 hours. anyway any new 95 tonner will suck in comparison.

A few times I have used NSR-9SS quite successfully. That thing was brutal and it has loadout that you can't replicate on the Banshee (or on any other MWO IS 'Mech). Of course I don't expect to see it in MWO any time soon.

The Cerberus would be pretty similar to the Banshee, just more ballistic based. It'd be a strong mech especially if it got Banshee lvl quirks.

The Nightstar could potentially have great hitboxes and enormous firepower. Possibly similar to a King Crab but lighter, faster, no missiles, all high mounted weapons. I can see it being able to spread DMG like a champ.

I'd love to see the Albatross, but only if the clans get the Crossbow. Just for the Rime of the Ancient Mariner reference.

Dunno how you can claim that any Inner Sphere mech will be good without first seeing its quirks and hitboxes. It's just a lottery. At least with Clan mechs you can get a rough idea how good it will be from seeing how many lasers it can strap on.

Would like to see the Nightstar in game for the above reasons but also the Albatross because it looks unusual and then to have the Albatross Dantalion as the HERO Version.

It's largely guesswork depending on the artwork, engine, hardpoints.

Always loved the Hauptmann. But most versions have weapons not found in game...yet.

I still want to see some Classic mechs like the Cyclops, or lesser known like the Emperor.

While not 95 tons, we're missing some key assaults, like the Mackie [come on, the first battlemech, it would be awesome to see one in a mechwarrior game!] There's also stuff like the Marauder II...

That and there's not all that many 95 ton battlemechs to begin with, it's just an odd tonnage, why not just make something 5 tons heavier and hit the 100 ton mark... which is likely what most battlemech manufactures did

The speed difference is noticeable between the two weight classes. Also with CW 95t lines up better with 65 & 75 tonners and in general saving weight is good.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Cyclops at all but the Emperor would be fun. I don't really care too much about a rehash (Marauder II). A good number of my most desired assaults are actually 95t (Nightstar, Cerberus & Sagitare)

I have warm fuzzy's for the Cyclops from Tabletop... but yeah I see what you're saying, still on the whole, there's just not that many 95 ton mechs, and even fewer made between the 3025/3055 era.

You're correct about the number of 95 tonners, there's links to almost every non clan 95 tonner in existence linked in this thread.

So far it seems the Nightstar is winning but things have only just started.
