With the sale ending I cashed in and bought 3 novas. Nice little mech but have found that when getting hit with lrms they always take out my legs with little damage to the rest of the mech. Giving the legs full armour didnt help, Any1 else came across this?

Low mechs like the Nova and KGC get legged by LRMS when they miss you after a lock. This is due to the mechs design and you just have to learn to deal with it and keep it in mind.

In short: This is a "git gud" moment.

Just to add to what Sader said, get some AMS if you are getting targeted by LRMs that often -- really the only way to mitigate their lovely shape.

Thats the thing I'am not getting hit any more than usual. I can see if they lose lock they dip down hitting your legs but this is when they are hitting you normally (with lock). 2-3 hits and a leg goes slowing me down enough that the next couple of hits takes out the other leg. I've never came across this before but I do manly run heavy's with only the HBK IIc and SHC as my other clan mediums ( I do have some IS meds) but never been killed with lrms so quickly and always by blowing my legs off. If it is just the shape of the mech then so be it, as you say will just need to load up with AMS.

Nova's legs take surprising amounts of damage from literally everything, it's just a quirk of the Nova that you have to learn to deal with. I think it has to do with the JJ animation, but I'm not certain. On the bright side, at least the armour down there is getting put to good use.

Crabs (not the royal variety) also have this going on. It's another component of why they roll damage so incredibly well -- not only do they reliably lose ST's before the CT, but also the huge legs take a lot of hits intended elsewhere.

That's just a waste on a mech that's already pretty tonnage-starved. =P

Can't hear you over the sound of my brrrrrrrrrrrrt!

Honestly, I don't have a lot of trouble with LRMs in the Nova. It's a very mobile mech. But if someone keeps getting legged? May as well get the brrrt.

Not having legs sorta negates the tonnage you do have.

That being said 2x AMS is plenty good 3x AMS is nigh invulnerability to LRMs.

You can easily fit 2 AMS 2.5 tons ammo and still have 12 tons for weapons.

12 tons of clan weapons is still a good amount of damage dealing potential.

Mannnnnn, if I were making a Mechwarrior game, I'd make sure that autocannons came in variants just like lore, and them some of them brought true brrrrrrrrrrrrt.

For sure. That's one of the things I really miss about the Heavy Gear games. They actually had real rapid firing autocannons, machine cannons, gatling guns, etc. When we do get the rotary autocannon in MWO, I'm worried it's going to have a 1 second cooldown. BANG..... BANG...... BANG....

You can run triple AMS with 6 er med at a decent enough cooling efficiency. Most i could get was like 2.0 tons of ammo tho.

Every mech has an Achilles Heel, and it appears you may have discovered the Nova's. ;)

AMS is your friend. So is having legit amounts of leg armor. :D

Its quite common for mediums, when they go through your armpits they hit legs. Centurion is the worst case I think.

Step to the side, not backwards, otherwise the lrms will kinda mow into your legs.
Same for thiwsting to the side.
And it smore common wiht the non human mechs as their op ro leg height is smaller than the one of most human ones where Lrm's will try to impact on the uper Torso parts.
