since we are still able to rejoin if we try to hurry up at least don't let the enemies know we got disconnected, that way we can have a bit of a chance that the enemy will not know and try to hunt disconnected mechs

No profit in taking down DC's anymore. It's just a trap for noobs who don't know any better. Go kill one then check your score.

Not anymore. DC'd players head hitboxes are shielded now, and they don't count for match rewards.

I have seen groups of 2-4 folks on comms leave match and have one guy sitting there until they get seismic and let their buddies jump in.

Now both red and blue are not helping their team who went to actually fight not farm, especially if the farming is now a no go.

No. It was a stealth change, some time ago. I'm not sure when exactly, but McGral tested with video as well. There's been lots of people crying that they scored zero damage in a match but crushed a DC'd player, too, which is proof that it works :)

But yeah, head damage appears to be pushed to CT for DC's - may be reduced with damage transfer, not sure. And damage done to DC'd players definitely doesn't count.

dubious.

There's no reason to do that: you still take damage while DC'd, still can be targeted and whatnot. You gain nothing. Why would a group of people deliberately do that?

I suspect, giving you the benefit of the doubt here, that you just saw half a group get disconnected then reconnect, nothing more.

Last night I had a whole Lance not moving, 2 were disco and the other just fapping or kids woke up...

Either way i think coincidence was more to blame them preemptive plan of attack.

Not when you know that they are players who are grouped together. They do need to have SSDs which will load them quite a bit faster. Also it is in group play where there are very few lrms and they may have noticed a group of lights who are actively farming DCs(this part is speculation). I am not quite sure, but leaving the match to mechlab may have shown as a DC or not in match status at some time, and this is a ton easier to get back in game with.

They do it as a troll the trollers. I did not say often, probably no more than 2-3 times.

My real point is that the level of selfish play has no limits.

I've been in a group where evey single player I was grouped with except me got disconnected at once. Every one of them was with Time Warner Cable.

Not saying it's just TWC, but rather that disco next events can and often do happen between client and server, and thus can impact multiple players simultaneously.

It's certainly not possible it was done deliberately, but I highly doubt it. It's just a bad plan. Reconnecting (even with a high end system and a good SSD) is sometimes time consuming. If a light Lance got to you, you'd be dead or badly disabled before you could reconnect, and even if you reconnected on time youd still be facing multiple intact mechs already moving and attacking while you're all standing around like lumps.

That's not selfish, that's stupid.

It's always better to assume the simplest answer: that it's just a couple people DC'd at once, as that's not even unusual.

You just reminded me of one little part of my dream last night. Among some other bizzare nightmares, there was one part where I was playing MWO and the entire match besides like 4 people got disconnected.

Back on topic, I agree with OP, as a disconnect imo has a tendency to motivate the enemy team to push or behave more aggressively as 1 one less player within a given time frame can make a noticeable difference, esp say, a 100 ton assault. While that aggression in itself is not a bad thing, it's the motivator (disconnect) that if weren't broadcast would help stem that behavior. Granted one could still pull-up the match board, but still. I know when I see a disco on the enemy team my job just got ~8% easier.

If you have the speedy light that can go kill the DC before they reconnect(sometimes they do) then do it. Fk the score.

Sadly, most of the posts I've seen have been like "Hey, I got rewarded for only 1 damage in my match with my king crab, and I totally trashed a DC'd assault!" (This was an actual thread, btw)

I do agree with this, because I know if I see a DC on the enemy side I will relay it to my team in pug, group, and FP. Because knowing the enemy is already down a player gives us a huge advantage. Throw in calling for focus fire on certain targets with VOIP and you can easily get the momentum to crush the enemy team.

I would say though do have if someone is DC or hasn't put any input in the past minute and the rest of their team is dead to display they are DC or afk so we know we aren't having to do a rabbit chase.
