They did this in CB. All it did was have people exploit the mechanic by not repairing between rounds. Thats why it was scrapped

Ejecting should be an aesthetic thing that occurs on a mech death anyway. Would add quite a bit to the game if you at the very least saw an eject pod blast out from a mech as it toppled.

This has been a terrible idea back then and is an even worse idea now, imo. Gameplaywise, it adds nothing to the game and quite frankly, would likely be a pain in the arse. I'd like that people realize the following: this is not MW1-4 or MechCommander or even a sim. This is MWO. Stop comparing these games, they are nothing alike nor should they be. If you ask me, MWO blows these other games out the water and its not even close (yeah, I played them all back then. I liked them at that time, but never looked back once I finished them.).
I am pretty sure Harebraineds game will have something like this and I think it fits in their universe. Does this make MWT a better game? No imo, they are designed for a different crowd (I'll still play both depending on my mood).

I think they have/had this in fraction play. Hold down the k key and you wait for a very slooow three count and either an escape pod or an explosion representing such happens then you respawn in your remaining mech. At least it looks that way with the catapult. One of the old mws had an hbk pilot eject with the cockpit being the escape pod.

R&R was a harsh tax that hurt the gameplay. WE got 75% rep and reamr for free, so people just brought more ammo to compandate the 25% loss. And Ammo, especially Artemis Ammo was expensive as fox so no one bought those.
Same for armor, you could see who has enough moneya to rep and who don't.
XL engines where a big no go. If you died, you have to pay exorbitant amounts of cbills to get it back to running. You actually lost cbills after a bad match and even if you win with a heavy damaged mech you could be happy to break even.
And all that led to simple loadouts with STD engines and cheap Lazors. You had a meta economy mechanic affect the actual gameplay. And that was bad.
I'm not against a R&R but I haven't seen a good idea how to implement it in MWO without the same outcome. This is something for a game where you have other means of income.

You and I have very different memories and experiences with mechwarrior titles. TDM all day every day isn't robust.
That being said I kind of like the idea of R&R being slightly time based. Most people had techs which could do repairs over time for a small fee (minus catastrophic damage) and the larger cost would be to rush your repair to take a favorite mech back onto the field.
Hell I actually mind of like the idea that you could play technician and lower the cost of repair depending on usefulness and implementation.
