I played the original Battletech paper game back in the early 80's (Yeah..I'm old) Posted Image . Just started MWO last week. I think I passed my 26th game last night. I picked up a Alienware Steam Box really cheap....erased and loaded Windows 10. Makes an awesome TV / MWO setup. Love playing on it.

Anyway...my favorite mech is the Locust. Don't know why but I love running around at high speed sniping away. None of them do heavy damage but to me, they're the most fun to play.

"P'Nut Butter" (my modded Pirates Bane) is a great ECM boat....Like hiding behind Assaults and covering them. Then sniping at any enemies that draw close...because they're so intent on the assaults they ignore me. Again, I don't do a ton of damage with just SPL but every little bit helps.Posted Image

I also use my LCT-1V "Mr. Ouchy" that I've put an AC-2 in...flipping love appearing way behind the enemy and shooting them in the back. They don't expect a light, let alone a locust, to have an autocannon.Posted Image

Anyone else have a light with a heavy sting?

It's bigger but i use a Kit Fox. One guy thought he was spectating a Timber Wolf because of the long list of weapons.
He was quite surprised that it was a mech less than half the weight.

1 ER PPC, 4x MG's, 1 ERSL, 1 ERML. JJ's and ECM. Very few expect a light mech to be able to have a nasty bite at all ranges.
I save my MG ammo for the later parts of the match when they get to chew on unarmored internal components.
ERML just help out the ER PPC when it's in good range or the short range weapons when i can spare the heat.

Raven is popular for its 2 ERLL sniper build,

Firestarter, Artic Cheetah, Wolfhound, Jenner and Jenner IIC can all pack a lot of short range firepower,

if you are after big guns but are not as worried about speed look at Urbanmech, Kit Fox, Adder and Panther,

For realy high speed with relitavely high firepower then the Locust is what you want.

Both the Jenner Oxide and the Jenner IIC have great amount of punch But i still enjoy playing my locust 1V and PB. Run the 1V with a single LPL and it is a blast.

My Raven 3L. 2 ERLL, 1ML... I'm like AT&T, I'll reach out and touch somebody.

I also run a Locust 1E... 3ML, 3SL... puts a nasty dent into larger enemies that can't catch me running at 159kph.

Locust 1M - (Finally got used to it)... 2 ML, 2 SRM4s

And of course the PB. 3 SPL, 1SL

That's before the locust got even small since the recent rescale, nowadays it goes full submarine.
Can't be seen but can see anything themself either.

I highly recommend to paint an ecm pirates bane in red, drop on crimson strait or forest colony and recreate "hunt for red october".

I too love the Locust, particularly the 1E. However, I am currently running around in my Wolfhound-2R with 5x MLs and 280STD Engine I think it is. Hilarious how tanky it is and it feels weird to be able to lose a ST and still be in the fight.
Just this morning I was the last one alive on my team against 2 heavily damaged guys. Everyone one on my team were saying "game over man his Wolfhounds RT is about to go." Well, needless to say people were whooping and halleren when I beat the last to guys with only my 2x remaining MLs in my CT because both my LT and RT were gone.

ADR-PRIME

That is my knock off Cougar Prime, it's oddly rather effective too.

As others have mentioned, the Jenny IIC packs an absurdly powerful punch with hex SRM6, and is actually capable of one-shotting a whole host of mechs from the rear.

That being said, it is dirty clanner tech, and while no IS light mech exists with with that amount of alpha, the Oxide and Locust S are both capable of dealing out very high amounts of damage in very short order.

My personal favorite is my Spider 5D with 3 mplas. (I actually have 2 loaded the same in case one gets stuck in a match.) I have 2 other Spider 5Ds with different loadouts. I also have all of the lights fully mastered as well, just don't like them quite as much as my Spider. If the Locusts, and espically the Pirate's Bane, had jump jets, well, now we'd be talking.

Hmmm...Wasp?

OP, that Locust 1V is absurdly good with 1 LPL. With quirks it is like getting 2 for the price of one, it fires so fast. Also, along those lines., the Locust 1E is great with 6 spl, it is 24 pts of pinpoint, nearly front loads damage. Those are two of my favorite mechs in the game. I will agree with mailin though that the spider 5D with 3 mpl is great too. I learned the game in a spider 5d with 1 erppc and 2 small lasers, which is fun but not nearly as effective as the 3 mpl build.

Finished all my basic skill tree on the 1V last night. Perfect reason I like the AC2 (with Range 3) is on Frozen
City - Skirmish. I started tagging the heavies and mediums at max range as they started their push. Since
This was a pub match about half of them stopped (letting me get some really long bursts into them) and
the rest dove for cover. Which basically stopped half of their push. We had a PB who was with our assaults and
they pushed to far side of the center bridge. We went 12 - 2 (one was disconnect). I was bingo on ammo
towards the end but by then it was just cleaning up.

After finishing my basic skills on the 1V with AC2. I pulled out P'Nut Butter (my PB). It's the 4 spl
(Range 2) version.

I've never been a big damage maker but was getting a couple hundred or more...which surprises me. I was
getting more at short range than my AC2 1V did at medium range...hmm..dang.

I've got 4 of my basic skill tree done now...2 more then I have to start using my bone stock Locust 1M.
LRM mini boat!!

My wife bought me the Jenner Mastery Pack when I started a week ago..well...almost two weeks ago now.
She said they looked like 'a walking p*nis"... :)

I played around for a couple of matches but have been doing nothing but Locusts really. Do any Jenner's have a ballistic slot? (you know..for my Daka Daka)

They'll be next on my list after I get my Locust mastered...

Cheers

No, none of the Jenners have ballistics.

If you want to impress your wife you should get a Stalker. ;)

may Sound a bit awkward, but i`ld say trashcan. if you got locusts with 190XL installed, you have 160s lying around.
stuff em into the can if u absolutely need to. but i rather play a stock engine urbie (gauss ? no one expects a gauss in a light. good for slow stuff, too) or a 2-3 large laser 180XL (uac5+4 small pulse with an XL works too).
least expected evil anklebiter...

but hey, i am just an alt with 3 urbies, do not trust me :P
