Anyone know if PGI has any plans to add Comstar or Word of Blake as a faction?

Its been 3050 for more than a year already. And WOB started out right after the Battle of Turkkiyad. I'm ready to join the Word as a WOB fan.

PGI seem to be preserving ComStar as "their" faction, which makes sense that TPTB is ComStar. Not to mention FW probably has too many factions as is, more separation doesn't make sense.

I'm hoping we can get ComStar decals though at least, have 250 'Mechs in need of it...

Well, even though you guys don't like additional factions. I just like it if PGI follows along with the lore. I mean after Turkayyid, some clans are gone, so they could get rid of the faction that is eliminated lorewise and put the new ones in place.

PGI could add all the timeline existing factions, such as Taurian Concordat, and Blood Spirits, and then reduce the FW lanes (2-3 lanes per IS and Clan as a whole). That way people will get into their favorite faction without empty attack/defense lanes.

I, for example, am a staunch Blood Spirit supporter, even before becoming Marik.

That sounds like a great idea, but I'm hoping to see this being implemented towards comstar and Word of Blake. Also, Word of Blake is enemy of both IS and Clans. As a Blakist, I love to see this soon or maybe in a year or two.

I'm a Ghost Bear as of now, just waiting for the Word of Blake to rise and switch sides

I first would rather see the rest of the clan worlds added into our attack lanes, they are in the map already, and the FRR would love to push coreward some more. I, honestly, feel pretty much every other faction in the game either would need to be fluff and allied with another faction (in terms of Clan and WoB) in order to prevent splitting of the player base even more so.

Though, I would love for the smaller periphery factions and WoB to be added once we have AI to fight, would be a nice way for the newer players to FP to get some practice in, or to just do something when you can't get a drop elsewhere. Though, I want us to have FedCom properly in the game until it's civil war later on, basically make Steiner and Davion pilots still pledge to either but have both factions active planets available. Or something like that.

So more clans since all the major need units generally lean IS for contracts?

Yeah, We need to be talking about reducing factions (to, like, two), not adding more.

We've had two Tukayyid-s. Mercenaries -working for Clans- won both. There is no lore to follow along with.

As to factions, here too there is no lore other than the little blurbs on the "choose your faction" screen. But the issue in not about lore, the issue is to many buckets splitting up the player base as it is. More factions means more buckets, means more wait and goofier fronts in FP.

You want a new faction for purposes of following lore? Create your own unit, call it a clan. Bring whatever lore you want to it (see Sarna, etc.)...and done. That's how others have done it in the past (see Clan Diamond Shark, Clan Wolverine, as well as other units).

Yeah, but I wanna see my favorite faction's logo in the tab screen. Clan Blood Spirit has a kickass logo.

Unless you guys can find a way to drastically increase the playerbase, we need less factions...not more.

How could they add WoB without taking planets away from existing factions?

Well, I like the Word of Blake for their goals compare to other factions and I also like their fancy mechs. I definitely do not agree with the genocide they committed, there could've been much better ways to achieve their goals. Every faction in MWO is bad in some way. There's no good in any faction even Ghost bear or House Davion. Well, the WoB goal is to make the Inner Sphere be more freer and more educated. They are trying to move the Inner Sphere away from feudalisms and caste societies.

This is a fiction game, so I can choose my factions freely, but I'm not too overly serious when it comes to factions. Someones has to be a WoB fan.

Seeing as how a poster here says theres no lore to follow. It got me thinking. Terra is currently Comstar, so PGI could use that planet as a WoB starting point. WoB doesn't have that many planets to start with in lore. So PGI can use the Chaos March planets too. Compare to the hundreds of planets each IS factions are currently controlling, 1-15 planets isn't much.

Speaking of reducing factions. My thought is that, they could combine all of the clans into one major faction while all of the other clans becomes sub-factions or maybe units. The entire IS can become one faction with sub factions or units for the Liao, Kurita, Steiner, etc. WoB can be a seperate faction. This could make the game have 3 factions total. Tell me what you guys think of this idea.

Specifically the world of Gibson in the FWL, at this time. One planet.

Easy. Get rid of long tom. Replace the recruitment tax with a logical mechanism to control merc population (like longer contracts or no loyalty tree rewards of any kind for mercs...just extra cbills). Make each faction have an in game positive effect and negative effect that give each house a flavor and motivation to play them. Make taking and losing planets have more in game consequence than a few MC. Make taking a planet involve a hierarchy of missions (recon/defense probe, beach head establishment, beach head defense, wall of battle, city/factory assault, etc.), with multiple sequences of maps that are cycled. Provide a player specific skills tree with real benefits and tough choices and consequences.

In short make the game immersive and interactive, like it is supposed to be.
Then ADVERTISE this new and improved game.

Or I suppose we can just leave it as it is. PGI knows best and all that. Do let me know when the population increases with that plan, cuz I am pretty sure we will never find out how mine would work out.

I have another idea, get rid of the freelancer option aka no faction in factionplay. Make it so that everyone has to choose a faction. I also do not like mercenaries as a faction.
