Looking at all the nerfs I see people complaining about, alot of these nerfs just seem to make the game easier for less skilled pilots.
So to keep "immersion" and "lore," you nerf JJs/speed/mech sizes/LRMs/coolant/etc.
How is making the game into BattleMech Death Arena a simulator?
*puts on Vet hat* Back in my days of MW3/MW4 we just learned to adapt to the game and the tactics of others. We didn't have mommy and daddy developers to whine to make us better at the game.

If they are keeping this as an arena deathmatch game, it is important to maintain balance. So I commend the effort, just not the implementation. In older games that were of similar style, such as Heavy Gear 2, there were major balance issues, but players had the tools to address them (restricted weapons, limited threat value). The players made their own balance, and it was an incredibly competitive scene. MERC vs. C7C was a dogfight like no other. But now we have none of the controls, and rely on getting the devs to hear us to make changes. Inevitably, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and the sim enthusiasts are not the loudest voice in the crowd.
Also, if you want a great sim, try DCS!
