Disconnects Triggering Penalty

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but it has happened to me three times. The latest was just now. It seems to have something to do with the PGI servers because a lot of people get disconnected. The second last match I just played, each team both had four people disconnected. Shortly after the match started I got disconnected as well, running around in a panther. The game said the server connection was lost and I even had to log back in. The game would not let me rejoin the match (that stupid panel that pops up and asks me whether I want to quick play with my current mech or rejoin a match in progress is really annoying, btw. If I wanted to rejoin, I would have that mech selected.) however when I picked a different mech and went to find a new match, it said I had triggered the automatic penalty and I had to wait for the timer to finish before I could play again. I got booted. I did not leave that match by choice and if I could have rejoined, I would have. Also, throughout this whole process I could still hear the VOIP conversation going on in the match from which I got booted. Even after I had waited out the counter and joined another match, I could still hear the VOIP conversation from the match I was no longer playing.

Anyone else have this happen? Surely the PGI devs can at least put some sort of function in to tell whether I had actually clicked the QUIT MATCH button before I had died and not trigger the automatic penalty when their servers rudely boot someone from a match. Also, why couldn't I rejoin the match? And, most puzzling, why could I still hear the VOIP conversation from the match I was no longer part of?

I had 2 Crashes and 2 Black Screens (failing to load back into Mechlab after game ends) in a very short amount of time (2hrs).
The 2 Crashes have send the automatic Crah Report to PGI - the Black Screens force a reboot too.s

Lowered my Video Settings - maybe it helps...

PS: Got a Crash to Exit Screen and a Penalty for whatever...

PPS: Increased the Video Settings to a pretty High/Very High mix (solely Post Processing on Low) and it runs like a charm today...neither Performance nor Stability seem to be significantly influenced by the Video Settings.

Well, I just had a match where 5 (yes, FIVE!) mechs were disconnected alone on our side before the match even started. Fix the &^%* servers, repair your %^$#*&^ code, or get the heck out of being an internet game company.It's not the internet provider, nor our personal computers; it's PGI and the MWO servers.Many of us are getting fed up of the problems with this game and the lack in progress of stability/removal of errors in coding. I've been here from the start, but plenty of my fellow founders and other whales are this close to moving on from MWO.

Nobody else has experienced this particular issue? I find it very hard to believe I'm the only one who has had to endure the timer penalty after getting booted from a game. Especially since it has happened three times.

Crashed yesterday (lost Server Connection) and got the Penalty - if you get more than 1 Penalty in a certain amount of time (8 hrs?) it stacks up to 5 or more minutes i guess, starting from 8 seconds.

You have 3 minutes to make it back into the game or endure the Penalty!

Disconnect Penalty System
The automated penalty system releasing in this patch is intended to penalize players for intentionally disconnecting from matches in which the player has not yet been destroyed. Once a match has been found and you are placed into the map and game mode voting screen outlined above, all 24 players are considered to be 'in' an active match. If a player disconnects from the match prior to the destruction of their 'Mech, whether they are still within the voting screen or in the match itself, the player will have 3 minutes to reconnect before a disconnect penalty level is applied. If they reconnect to the match before the 3 minute timer expires, no penalty level will be applied. Once a player has been flagged with a penalty level a delay to their next matchmaking search will be enforced (whether solo or group). The duration of the delay is determined by the current penalty level.
For cases where the disconnect was not intentional, the 3 minute timer is intended to provide players with sufficient time to re-join the match in question. If circumstances prevent a successful re-join within that 3 minutes, the first penalty level is a mere 10 second delay toward the next matchmaking search. It is only when a player purposefully disconnects from multiple matches that the real penalties will begin to pile up.
This is a breakdown of the current penalty levels:
• First Disconnect: 10 second delay for next matchmaking search
• Second Disconnect: 2 minute delay for next matchmaking search
• Third Disconnect: 5 minute delay for next matchmaking search
• Fourth Disconnect: 10 minute delay for next matchmaking search
• Fifth Disconnect: 20 minute delay for next matchmaking search

Each subsequent disconnect beyond the Fifth Disconnect will also enforce a 20 minute penalty.
Penalty levels reset every 4 hours.
All of the above values are tune-able, and may be subject to change depending on how the system plays out in the general Population.

I just got a "disconnect" penalty after ******* leaving a ******* match after it ******* ended. Fix your ****, PGI.

happens often to me lately i got disc or lost server connection in mechlab or during loading the game... just twice during a match from the beginning of the patch.

before never happened and... i see often ppl get disc... and sometimes massive disc in same game

And only after I reconnected and played the 30 min FP match did I get the notice that "rewards don't apply for reconnection after 2 minutes".

So thanks for penalising us for being disconnected and preventing* us from reconnecting quickly.



* The reason it takes me >2 minutes to reconnect is the sloppy code that requires all my 130 Mechs to resync every time I save, change to FP, or try to reconnect...

Its been happening a lot lately. I know I have been dc'd from the server several times without a reason why and sometimes I get crashed repeatedly PGI really needs to fix the crashing and disconnections otherwise im going to spam the hell out of them to do something about it. BTW PGI. You know how many ppl who have reconnected to the server and don't get rewarded jack **** for trying to get back and play with this FW Event going on? ALOT of people. You have got to fix this problem RIGHT NOW. DONT IGNORE THESE THREADS.

Yes, actually, it has happened to me several times, though normally only for the short periods of time, as I don't put up with the game like I used to, anymore. Do you know, this time around, how long it's been since I dropped last in a game? I think I'm up to three weeks, this time. When I think of MWO, anymore, my brain screams "NO, THE AGGRAVATION ISN'T WORTH IT AND THERE'S NOTHING FOR YOU IN THE GAME!" and my mouth speaks 'meh!'

When real objective-based warfare is introduced,
When the arcade ******** in this game is removed, or at least replaced with something less arcade BS,
When units can actually form and Commanders have some real control to award and reward their people,
When PGI actually fixes the disco and penalty issues, and releases the slavery controls, making it more possible for we, the players, to control how we play the game, rather than strangling us with rule stacked upon useless ******* rule,
I'll be back to play PvP. However, if this garbage continues to manifest and finds it's way into PvE, IF PvE EVER happens, there won't be much more of me around. I think I've pretty much already cut my losses, as I just don't play, anymore.

EDIT: In fact, I would rather go do crafting, with thousands of parts and pieces, enough to make me craft for four hours a day for three weeks straight -yeah, baby!- in Lord of the Rings Online, than play wash, rinse, ******* repeat, here.

Happened to me again the other day. It's pretty stupid. I think I might have figured out why it wouldn't let me reconnect, though. I still hate that stupid little popup window when you click "Quick Play" with a match in progress. It gives you a list of matches to choose to rejoin? What the hell? How many matches does PGI expect people to be leaving before they're dead? GET RID OF THAT PANEL, PGI, AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, FIX YOUR SERVERS. I'm pretty tired of incurring a penalty for getting booted from a match.

So, here is a new one...

I play the game and notice my headset microphone isn't working.. no biggie, so I finish my game, we win, I log out and exit the game and my teamspeak.. do some laundry and come back.

Plug in my headsets and make sure they work, start the game and do a quickmatch - but then the automated penalty system pops up, and not for just a few seconds... for 1 and a half minutes.

Now, I understand team killing, disconnecting, and the other triggers, but seeing as I didn't do any of those things in the previous game - I am at a loss as to why I am getting penalized. I mean, what the heck? And it is like a second or third level penalty.

PGI needs to do some code work on this penalty system if they are going to insist on using it.

Again this happens. A few laggy matches and then I get booted and have to relog and after waiting an eternity to connect I attempt to rejoin the match only to be immediately kicked back out to the home screen. Seems the game has ended. I clicked quick play to play another match and have to wait out the count down. This is becoming much more common and consequently much more annoying.

I've had this happen about once in some 100 matches or so since this patch. Had to wait about 10 seconds, not a big deal. Have you guys that have had constant disconnect issues, tried different ISPs to see if it's any different?
