The first Mech is the Terror-Mech used by the Alt. future PLA and the second is the counter-terror used by the IDF. This is set in an alternate 23rd century where the PLA/IDF conflict has continued even as population dense megacities have become the norm. As expected, the PLA launched Mechs meant to kill civilians and create martyrs, while the IDF tries to preserve lives.
You will notice for this reason the PLA purposely under-armor their Mechs, and puts explosives and super-destructive inaccurate weapons on their cheap, throw-away designs (in this world XL engines are norm, mechs without are made to be cheap and expendable. ) while IDF Mechs are over-priced and meant to reduce civilian casualties, no matter the cost, while preserving the life of the, what they overly-idealistically consider "priceless" IDF soldiers (thus showing the IDF sentimental/do-gooder weakness, which can be fatal in a real war. )

It is meant to simply do as much destruction as possible before the Mech is destroyed, which is intended to not only happen but quickly, so that the Mech explodes and destroys huge areas of a city before too many civilians escape. ================================================================================ Equipment Type Rating Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internal Structure: Endo-Steel 91 points 3.00 Internal Locations: 1 CT, 1 LT, 1 RT, 2 LA, 1 RA, 1 LL Engine: Fusion Engine 165 6.00 Walking MP: 3 Running MP: 5 Jumping MP: 0 Heat Sinks: (CL) Double Heat Sink 10(20) 0.00 Heat Sink Locations: 2 LT, 2 RT Gyro: Standard 2.00 Cockpit: Standard 3.00 Actuators: L: SH+UA R: SH+UA Armor: Ferro-Fibrous AV - 124 6.50 Armor Locations: 4 RT, 2 LA, 1 RA Internal Armor Structure Factor Head 3 9 Center Torso 18 18 Center Torso (rear) 5 L/R Torso 13 17 L/R Torso (rear) 4 L/R Arm 9 11 L/R Leg 13 14 ================================================================================ Equipment Location Heat Critical Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 (CL) SRM-6s RT 12 3 4.50 (IS) MRM-40 LT 12 7 12.00 (CL) MG Array (4 Heavy Machine Gun) RA - 1 0.25 4 (CL) Heavy Machine Guns RA 0 4 2.00 (CL) MG Array (4 Heavy Machine Gun) LA - 1 0.25 4 (CL) Heavy Machine Guns LA 0 4 2.00 @MRM-40 (6) HD - 1 1.00 @SRM-6 (Inferno) (30) RA - 2 2.00 @HMG (100) RA - 1 1.00 @HMG (100) LA - 1 1.00 @SRM-6 (30) RL - 2 2.00 @MRM-40 (6) LL - 1 1.00 Free Critical Slots: 0 BattleForce Statistics MV S (+0) M (+2) L (+4) E (+6) Wt. Basically it is meant to sneak into an area, and just do as much damage as possible before being destroyed. It is also meant to create a terrible explosion when destroyed - killing even more people and destroying even more of a city. Used right, 4-8 Martyrs can kill millions or tens of millions for a relatively cheap cost, while demoralizing the IDF and Israel.
The inaccuracy of weapons like the MRMs are used on purpose, as each miss kills more civilians. The Mech is armed with Infernos - to burn large areas of the city or area down quickly. 8 - Heavy, Fusion-powered machine guns set to 2 arrays allows it to mow downs swarms of fleeing civilians. The Fusion-Bomb Booby-Trap makes killing it just as deadly as leaving it alive.
The average pilot is also meant to be expendable - so is 5/6.
IDF Mech:
IDF - Valiant Mass: 85 tons Tech Base: Mixed Chassis Config: Biped Rules Level: Experimental Tech Era: Dark Ages Tech Rating/Era Availability: X/X-X-X-A Production Year: 3132 Cost: 20,002,200 C-Bills Battle Value: 3,048 Chassis: Unknown Endo-Steel Power Plant: Unknown 255 Fusion XL Engine Walking Speed: 32.4 km/h Maximum Speed: 54.0 km/h Jump Jets: Unknown Jump Capacity: 150 meters Armor: Unknown Standard Armor Armament: 2 (CL) Large Pulse Lasers 5 (CL) Streak SRM-6s 3 (CL) Small Pulse Lasers Manufacturer: Unknown Primary Factory: Unknown Communications System: Unknown Targeting and Tracking System: Unknown Overview: The Israeli Defense Force Mech - Valiant, is intended to fight heavy-scale fights while minimizing civilian casualties. This is not meant just to save the lives of Israelis but Palestinians as well, since in teams they can eliminate targets quickly and most importantly accurately - reducing collateral while surgically eliminating an opponent. This saves Palestinian lives because the quicker the fighting ends, and the more quickly, the less chance there is for civilians to get caught in the crossfire. The Mech is meant to fight in a heavily populated area against large-mech sized opponents, and take them out quickly while doing as little damage to the city itself as possible. One key goal is to destroy an enemy PLA Martyr without activating the Booby-Trap. This has been done by knocking out a PLA pilot with multiple Streak-SRM Strikes, and then decapitating the head with a Large Pulse Laser strike against a prone Mech. The use of such a tactic can save tens of thousands of people, who are likely to be killed even within the basements of reinforced structures if a Martyr self-destructs. Capabilities: Facing an enemy which hides behind civilians, indeed, purposely tries to induce civilian casualties for propaganda and recruitment points, the IDF Mech is meant to get to an area within a densely populated area quickly - an area for which the 5 Improved Jump Jets prove essential. The armor is set at 94 percent its maximum potential, to preserve the valuable IDF Mech Pilot. This is combined with a Compact Gyro, to reduce the chance of the Mech being crippled in hostile territory. The primary armament is two super-accurate Large Pulse lasers, with accuracy increased by a targeting computer. This is to reduce the chance of a missfire, and hence, the chance that an innocent person, or non-combatant, will be killed. This allows the Mech to utilize maximum maneuverability while firing accurate shots, an advantage further enhanced by the generally superior, better trained aim and piloting skill of an Israeli Pilot. While the Anti-Personnel weapons may seem at odds with a design largely meant to neutralize Terror Mechs while keeping civilian casualties to a minimal, the IDF has learned the hard way to not ignore the chance of infantry ambushes, or civilians turning combatant, in the chaotic Uprising Zones. A triad of Small Pulse Lasers, already accurate, and coupled with a Targeting Computer, plays a key role in this. It allows the IDF Mechwarrior to target enemy terrorists even within a crowd, sparring bystanders while neutralizing the threat. As the coup de grace, five Streak-SRM Missile racks are deployed, as heavy firepower to finish the enemy off if the battle should proved pitched or prolonged. While not linked to a targeting computer, the Streak missiles do not fire unless they are certain to hit their intended target - making the chance of collateral damage almost nill. In short, the Valiant is an anti-terror mech weapon. A more humane weapon. It is meant to find, and neutralize heavy terrorist targets, while making sure as few innocents are caught in the crossfire as is humanely possible.Unfortunately, when facing such a ruthless and fanatical opponent, this cannot always be achieved, and every years millions of deaths are blamed on the IDF as Martyr Booby Traps go off. Additional: IDF Pilots have the most upgrades available along with extensive training. This includes genetic modification, cybernetics and extensive training once the Mechwarrior reaches 18 - the best in the world. This makes the average gunnery and piloting 1/2. With the TC, that is 0/2 to start. The IDF goes for quality over quantity, and spares no expense at preserving lives - not just because it is humane, but because they face an enemy so ruthless they induce collateral against their own people to increase recruitment. ================================================================================ Equipment Type Rating Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internal Structure: Endo-Steel 130 points 4.50 Internal Locations: 1 RT, 2 LA, 4 RA Engine: XL Engine 255 6.50 Walking MP: 3 Running MP: 5 Jumping MP: 5 Improved Jump Jet Locations: 1 CT, 1 LT, 1 RT, 1 LL, 1 RL 10.00 Heat Sinks: (CL) Double Heat Sink 14(28) 4.00 Heat Sink Locations: 2 LT, 1 RT, 1 LA Gyro: Compact 4.50 Cockpit: Standard 3.00 Actuators: L: SH+UA R: SH+UA Armor: Standard Armor AV - 248 15.50 CASE Locations: LA, RA 0.00 Internal Armor Structure Factor Head 3 9 Center Torso 27 39 Center Torso (rear) 10 L/R Torso 18 27 L/R Torso (rear) 9 L/R Arm 14 26 L/R Leg 18 33 ================================================================================ Equipment Location Heat Critical Mass -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (CL) Small Pulse Laser HD 2 1 1.00 2 (CL) Small Pulse Lasers CT 4 2 2.00 (CL) Streak SRM-6 RT 4 2 3.00 (CL) Targeting Computer RT - 3 3.00 2 (CL) Streak SRM-6s LT 8 4 6.00 (CL) Large Pulse Laser RA 10 2 6.00 (CL) Streak SRM-6 RA 4 2 3.00 (CL) Large Pulse Laser LA 10 2 6.00 (CL) Streak SRM-6 LA 4 2 3.00 @Streak SRM-6 (30) RA - 2 2.00 @Streak SRM-6 (30) LA - 2 2.00 Free Critical Slots: 0 BattleForce Statistics MV S (+0) M (+2) L (+4) E (+6) Wt. IDF Pilots are used to being outnumbered by 2-4 to 1 on average. Sometimes 10 - 1 or more, as PLA Mechs can be made of junk, fast with throw away pilots, whereas IDF use the most expensive materials and processes, and train/invest in pilots for years. The difference is due to philosophy, the PLA is more collectivist/less egotistical, and so sees deaths as just a cell dying for the body, whereas the IDF sees every life as precious, and so works to the point of irrationality just to save one innocent person - a policy that has put it at huge disadvantages (indeed many argue of the IDF were only a little more practical, the conflict would be over given the IDFs clear superiority in tech and resources. )
PLA Mechs can arise out of nowhere, and destroy entire city blocks before the IDF neutralizes them, and yes, they fight in their own territories just as willingly, in order to blame the IDF for collateral. To them it is amputation to preserve the body. And this is only the tip of the ice berg (the Martyr is their common terror weapon, they have far more vicious and advanced ones used more rarely for more strategic strikes - the IDF has counter-measures of course, but it is hard when the enemy seems to determine when and where the fight happens every time and outright invasion is out of the question due to UN Law. )
I have more Mechs planned in the future. Specifically a 100-Ton PLA stealth Mech, meant to kill civilians and destroy buildings - not fight Mechs and an IDF Super-Scout, meant to proactively find would-be Martyrs before they reach their destinations (these I plan to be robotic, since the IDF does not like to risk individuals. )
