Still playing, I have enough stuff to enjoy the game as-is.

Unless some extraordinary happens I have little incentive spending more money on it.

No, supply crates are not that.

I'm playing almost daily for 1-2 hours.
Casual. For fun and relaxation. Not to gain or prove anything.

The difference I noticed from me to most others is: I seem to not have as high expecations into MWO as most.
I played Eve-Online for a long time and I do NOT want to have a smiliarily complex game ("small living world") any more.
I see MWO more like a flash game (tower defense or such) with 3D graphics and a mech lab: Something for casual fun, testing loadouts, testing my skill/score against others.
Otherwise, I have more than enough life.
Even being in a unit would be WAY too much commitment and obligations for me.

Last time I spent money was for a smaller Kodiak pack.
I'm not fed up or anything, I just have everything I remotely might wanna have (enviers: this is not bragging, it's an explanation for not spending anything currently.).
And there is nothing interesting in sight.
Supernova or Stone Rhino maybe someday.
But i'd be more interested in more maps, more complex game modes (sieging a dropship or so), infantry, tanks, elementals, PvE, replay function.

The last purchase I made was the Marauder.

I never purchased MC or Premium Time, just used what I received from packages, tournaments, etc...

The newest pack I have is the standard Phoenix Hawk, but it was gifted. I have not purchased (or will purchase) any of the currently announced chassis. For one they don't really interest me much and two I am getting a bit bored.

Overall I still play a snall bit every week. The Phoenix Hawk kind of got me playing a bit more just to level them up, but at the same time has added to my frustration (especially the PXH-1 and PXH-1K).

For the love of god PGI, please give them some more quirks (at least limb structure)!

Anyway, once the PXH leveling is done, my play time will go down. I only seem to play more when I have goals like leveling chassis. Since no new chassis interest me much, I might not play a whole lot going forward. Its hard to say.

Either way, I still seem to post on the forums. Its weird that I spend more time in here then in the actual game :/.

I use premium and play every week.

As a side note: I usually only interact with friends who never visit the forum, actually I'm only one of a few of the rather large bunch of folks in my TS circle who do visit the forum, and I've noticed that the ones who almost never visit the forums use substantially different mindsets when discussing the game, usually more in touch with the current meta, more creative builds, and more informative opinions on mech and weapon performance... They also play more often and have more positive attitudes then those who do frequent the forums.

I've been wondering this myself, whether coming here and posting hasn't been slanting my views.
Why I started why I continue to.

I played WoT before I came here, I payed it up to T8 with about 40 tanks and stopped, I posted about 10 times.
Everquest in both orginal, and EQ2 I posted about 20 times on the offical boards, I still play eq2 sometimes with my daughter.

Armored Warfare, and World of Warships, games I started playing as a break from here, between them I've posted less than ten times.

SWTOR played it Saturday, I'm sure my posting is limited to a few clarifications.

Yet here its a few posts everyday with growing frustration, and depression at times, because a bunch of pixels gets me hot under the collar at what is going on.

I think we all show clear obsessions with the game, it is after all the ONE GAME "Its my Precioussss gollum"! because rather than walk away from it, even those that haven't played for months, still come here and post regular, For many the messages boards bring more interaction than the game.

I'm sure that there could be some medical papers written about us, as I'm sure we're not displaying healthy Characterists.

Maybe we'll all chill a bit when HBS's new battletech toy release, we'll just have to wait and see.

I play till I am disgusted. Sometimes 5 games sometimes 10 but always I just get sick of it.

As far as the forums goes most of my original nemisis are gone now after eating so much PGI unicorn poo they started to get the underlying taste of the creamy poo. It brought them back to the reality it was still Poo.

"CW LOL"

what qualifies somebody as a forum warrior?

People that are spending as much time here as playing mostly, one thing I can say for P.G.I is I've found the game doesn't crash so much from alt tabbing, so I can be here while the matches form, i'm sure other peoples experiences are different from mine

I think there are three types of people with fairly distinct motivations who forum warrior:

1) Honest to god feelings of betrayal by PGI. These are the "bitter vets" who feel like they supported the game based on what was promised (be it back in 2012 or last year) and then when after so much time of not seeing those promises fulfilled and the continued "mediocrity" of PGI and its changes to the game have for the most part stopped playing and come to the forums as a way to hang on to what they see as "theirs" (in their view they paid for it and helped create it) and boggle at the stupidity of those of us who have not yet "seen the light" of PGI's utter failure to ever deliver what was promised.

2)The git gud crowd or the gamers. Those whom, at best, find it amusing that people play this game for any other reason than to defeat their digital enemy. They don't care about the larger battletech or mechwarrior universe or its underlying IP; and if they are even aware of it, it should never be a factor in the game. All that matters is winning and anything that takes away from that one true goal is foolish or distracting. These folks tend to post only to: mock those who value other (potential) aspects of the game; to explain as patiently as they are capable (not very), that you are an idiot to play a Warhammer as a stock build, since PPCs suck and why would you even use them when you can put LPLs in the higher torso mounts anyway you stupid noob; or to rage at PGI for not fixing whatever aspect of the game is interfering with their ability to dominate.

3) The hopeful. These are the folks who may be happy with the game or even perpetually disappointed with it, bordering on the status of bitter-vet. But regardless they all still play and all they want is for the game to be better. Many are posting in the hopes that PGI will pay some attention to them and at least acknowledged their various issues (aka: blow sunshine up their backsides). Others just want broken things fixed. But in the end, they are all used to how things work around here and know, in their heart of hearts, that things will never really change but they post nonetheless because they still have hope, and because this is the only mechwarrior or battletech game in town.

Hate to say it, but I'm kinda in the 3 category.

I'm definitely not full bittervet and I can't relate to the git gud crowd.

I don't know if I'm full level 3 though. I just play because the game is OK to play from time to time. I don't hope for better, but I also don't expect it either. I just play it and enjoy it for what it is until something hopefully better comes along (that hope lying in Battletech).

Maybe I'm more 3 in retrospect than I originally thought lol.

I try to post useful feedback or suggestions once in awhile, but with no expectation of them ever being read or acknowledged. This is part of the reason why I lack the abundance of salt that the others might seem to have. :3

I went from daily drops to weekly drops. Now I'm slipping from weekly to once or twice a month. I'm no longer spending and don't care about Premium time anymore.

I'll log in and spend spare MC on a few decals for grins, but it won't get me playing more.

I'll log in to finally see IK with my own eyes, but it won't get me playing more.

I'd like to see the last of the unseen, but I'm not sure I'd buy them or play them.

It's sad, really. There's not much to look forward to in MWO.

Honestly I think many/most of us are a bit of all three. Those are just the prevalent archetypes that I think are most abundant.

Yeah, probably. I can't say I'm too much git gud, but I've definitely played the role of bitter vet in the past (with occasional recent flare ups here and there). Overall though, the passion is now pretty much gone, so I'm mostly indifferent now. I have my opinions and like to discuss things about the game, but I generally don't get too upset anymore. I'm more like...*shrug* more than anything else.

only signin when there is solo events. all my comrades died and will never drop with me.

this game need to have objective. something to chase for. when i login i dont even know what to "achieve". which mech do i choose to drop in. why so i drop. worst is that this game is some what disconnected from what it should be. to me stats are important and shouldnt need me to switch to the browser to see it. After all these years, stats are still not IN the game! imagine the new players. they will definately have no idea stat page exists.

why do you drop?

I play daily, though only 2 to 3 matches most times. Hearts of Iron IV is much more interesting at the moment.
Decals will be something I will spend money on though.

I played pretty much daily until the last double XP weekend when I finally completed mastering my entire Mechbay. Now I find almost no motivation to play outside of practice/tournament stuff. I've been excited about the Viper, but a day before release I'm considering a refund.

Rarely play anymore.

Still usually buy the packs.

No good reason really, other than I love BT and MW and told myself at the start of all this that I would own everything I could, so it all fits the budget.

What really cracks me up is my 18,600 hours of banked premium time.

Considering the "Phoenix Hawk debacle", the impact of volume rescale on 35T IS lights and summer time, MWO is on hold for me at the moment.

Also seeing another nostalgia mech which was modeled nicely, variants and slot layout thought through and then being totally ruined by "mindless sledgehammer quirking"(in my eyes) was somehow to much.
I didn´t expect much but a certain level of competitiveness from the start and not beeing handicaped "Vindicator style" with all the existing medium mechs and expirience drawn from balancing those in the game...

So premium time ticking down unused, spending habit was killed, taking the summer off more or less.

Let's see what happens in autumn

IMO, indifference is what kills a game faster than love or hate for the game. At least if you care about the game (in either direction), you could kind of point to things that needs work... Indifference implies "it makes no difference" what you think or what you feel is needed for the game - it's a hopeless endeavor.

Apathy is much stronger a killer of games than you'd think.

Honestly I'm down to 2 or three matches a month mostly, due to having other things to do/want to play. MWO has fallen so short of what I hoped it could be... that being said, when PGI does something I like, I will toss a bit of money in the bucket, granted it's chump-change in the long run, but it is something.
