Just want to make sure people know this for when they are dakkaing.

If you have 2 UAC10s, and you are stagger firing and double tap with one UAC10 then immediately fire the other UAC10 you will incur ghost heat penalty if those 3 shots happen within 0.5 seconds.

Firing both guns at once and double tapping with both in that 0.5 seconds doesn't cause ghost heat. It seems that the double tap cannot give ghost heat, but can add onto the max you've fired in that 0.5 seconds.

To test this is easiest to trigger when you fire one gun then double tap as you fire the second gun. It happens commonly as one gun unjams if you are constantly hitting your trigger. If one unjams in the time between your first hit and its doubletap and both are on the same firing group you'll notice a moderate heat spike.

Knowledge is power, dakka wisely.

If knowledge is power, then why do we still have Ghost heat..

Oh thats right..

Thanks Paul.

Its really sad that there can't be a distinction between 3 UAC firing, and 2 UAC firing in tandem.

2 uac-10, especially for builds like the Highlander-IIC, or Warhawk, is a really fun build to use dual UAC-10 on when stagger firing sustained burps of shells.

I already noticed it 8 months ago, on my Dakka Whale. Made a video of it, but never bothered uploading.

Yeah, really as a rule of thumb don't stagger-fire uacs. Or, really, anything: It's awesome fun, but if you're not careful you'll get ghost heat all up in your business.

Issue is that it shows up commonly enough through a gun unjamming and causing a staggering effect when you don't mean to, which is how I found it in the first place trying it out in the testing zone and suddenly finding myself go from 80% heat to overheat then testing it because it seemed off.

Why can't PGI do a simple check such that ghost heat won't trigger if you're carrying fewer weapons than that required by the threshold? If you're only carrying 2 UAC10s it shouldn't ever trigger.

That's exactly what I was wondering, would make things a lot easier without causing issues with mechs that don't need to be hit.

Minimally Viable Product. I doubt they understand the engine itself to code in a fix.
