Kodiak is not broken, just double tap or chain fire or use one of the many other viable builds out there.
If anything the free tonnage will allow more speed and more weapons.

With jam chance with 4x UAC 10s, you could often expect 70 damage (1 jamb) over 1 second or so (had to keep 1/2 second delay to avoid the double tap bug or you would trigger 8x ghost heat).

With 2x10s and 2x5s and 4x medium lasers, you can regularly alpha-double tap for 78 or 83.

There was Ghost Heat before for UAC10s. It just didn't scale sharply. It wasn't very noticeable until you fired five or more or fired too fast and got the penalty from the double tap bug.

Dire Wolves have been running quad builds for years now. But DWFs were so slow, had limited angles, turn speed, rotate speed that combined with the double tap bug, so they matched up well with other assaults and could easily be taken out by a competent light or fast medium.

With the Kodiak being fast for an assault, being able to carry 4x10s and the double tap bug now fixed (yay!), the Ghost Heat most definitely needed to be adjusted up. I was expecting something more in between the UAC5s and UAC20s per damage dealt.

If I'm not mistaken the heat scale of 4xcuac10 is equal to 2xcuac20 so is it fair since 4xcuac10 takes up more slots and are much heavier? Think about it.

Well, if Smurfy's is accurate a C-UAC10 does 4.00 DPS, while the C-UAC20 does 5.00 - so 4x UAC10's inflict 60% more DPS than 2x UAC20's (16 vs. 10). The UAC10 also has about 45% more range than the 20, so yeah...quad UAC10's are considerably more brutal, apparently.

Now let me dwell deeper, is it fair for the ghost heat of 15 that is slapped equally to both 4xcuac10 and 2xcuac20 after double tapped since 4xcuac10 takes up more slots and are much heavier? Ponder over it.

Except that 10s have better range and higher projectile speed in addition to the 60% damage increase.

Yes. Absolutely it's fair. One is flat out better than the other.

they really should have fixed the ghost heat bug then iterated on quirks afterwards, rather than create new quirks on the basis of bugged performance

Thanks to the developers, the latest patch has now made my Kodiak KDK-3 nowhere near as playable as it once was. I've got it setup in a popular configuration, with 4 C-UAC-10s and before, I could do about 5 alpha strikes before it would overheat. Now it's just 1. WTF???

These guys make us pay for things in the game, then when they get too many complaints about it being powerful after the fact, they cripple us! I say everyone who bought these Kodiak packages should be receiving a refund if they are going to pull this nonsense.

Are you serious? Or just trolling?

Are you upset at it only being as maneuverable as every other assault (probably better with bigger engine) or are you upset that they fixed the bug where you were not getting the ghost heat you were supposed to and now you are?

Run 2xuac5, 2xuac10 and put the 400xl back in. Strip arm armor and carry 11 tons of ammo. It's still a beast.

He's complaining because the ghost heat before was "+3 extra heat" (1x modifier) for firing 4 UAC/10s at once.

Now it's +45 extra heat for firing 4 UAC/10s at once (15x modifier).
Ghost heat's a pain, isn't it?
Try firing 2, 2, 2, and 2 with 0.5 seconds apart.

To be fair, 4 UAC/10 requires more tonnage and critslots for both mounting the guns and mounting the ammo. You also need more hardpoints to do it (not as many mechs can use it).

Will admit...that's a new version of this old argument.

Correcting Quack/10 ghost heat doesn't really do anything to the Bad Touch Bear; the 10/10/5/5 configuration is more overall useful in Puglandia anyways. Elsewise, you've got four autocannons, a GH limit of 2, and two mouse buttons. Put the left shoulder on the left button and the right shoulder on the right. Say "Dakka" between firing the one and firing the other, and you'll be fine.

This is good advice. It's essentially how I run 4xALRM5.

Yeah, I put Artemis on LRM5. I do it for the lock time and tracking strength boosts.

Yes, shame on PGI for fixing the bug that caused GH to not trigger on 4x UAC-10s.

Seriously, it's one thing to complain about actual nerfs, but complaining because PGI fixed something that was literally broken in the game? Come on, man... 4x UAC-10 is still massively powerful, especially in a platform that can move.

Just use different weapon groups and stagger your shots. And maybe add a few more heatsinks.

So because there was a bug that kept ghost heat from working effectively and the bug got fixed you feel cheated?

Because you feel you deserve to have an exploit in the game?

So if there are bugs and exploits in games they shouldn't be fixed because players who bought content are entitled to exploit them?

Next honest question -

Are you ****ing serious?

Guys, there was no bug.

PGI literally just multiplied the GH multiplier by 15
Posted Image

They had it set to 1, then they put it to 15
There was no bug.
It just brought to light the double tap causing Ghost Heat (which NOW generates 180 heat

Gameplay wise, the SupaHunch DakkaBear is dead
I don't mind that, the agility was ridiculous
But so is 15xing the GH multiplier
7 or 8 would have been a nicer place, still letting you LOLpha a double tap, but not more (instead of dying in a fire when you try a LOLpha double tap)

Best advice: Ditch UACs, grab Goose Waffles and 50 PP FLD
The 2Five 2Ten is inferior by a large margin, and still triggers Ghost Heat to a significant degree until that hot patch is applied

Welcome to the party, even though we came for different reasons. Part of my reason is p2w new mechs that get nerfed once they're on sale for c-bills. But you're here because you didn't get enough fun from your "easy button" purchase. Either way, same result, GG PGI.

Im not sure if i equiped my pity module in my 4N Stalker, it also misses being able to deliver multiple 56 point alpha's 600m away, I guess the heat dried my tears up.

Post patch I don't run into the ghost heat issue at all with the 5/10 variant and it's easily my best performing version of the KDK.

I think the OP just wants an easy button rather than to learn how to play the mech now that it's been nerfed back to a more reasonable level.

I wonder if that is related to today's hot-fix:

Quote

• Fixed an issue where double-tapping C-UAC weaponry would trigger Heat Scale as if multiple weapons of the same type were being fired simultaneously.

I still see people getting murdered all the time by Kodiaks, they kill my mechs too. OP's post is a little too dramatic for me. Hey, go level up some Phoenix Hawks if you want a real challenge. The Kodiak is still one of the most powerful mechs in the game. Posted Image

So because big boating of UACs isn't insanely superior to every other possible build in the game for DPS you're not spending money?

Okay.

Still works fine, just run 10s and 5s.

If you've got the skills to run goose and erppcs it's a stone cold killer with no real peer in game.

4x10s was always an insane outlier. The only thing that offset it before is the Dire is a horribly gimped mech. Kodiak is best overall assault chassis blessed with the best of all design mechanics.

Most of us closed our wallets for various reasons and problems. If yours closes because this one specific clownshoes silly OP build got brought into line with every top tier loadout in game....

Well, shine on you crazy diamond.
