In the game, there should be a system to let players watch other players in battle. The Satelite Uplink is just like a spectator mode but you don't have to join battle to watch. It can be entertaining to watch other people fight while you kill time waiting for a battle to end or just for amusing. It can give players an opportunity to take the victor's planet for themselves if they wanted to.

sounds interesting... I think there may be enough you tube channels of people recording their matches for people to watch though.

It could act more like the camera ship from the MechWarrior 4 Games.

twitch.tv, where I always go to check out a game before I buy it when I'm not sure. 
Being able to watch tournaments on Solaris would be awesome though, just sayin'.
