Any Review/thoughts On New And Improved Long Tom?

This topic seems to have died since the patch and I am wondering if anybody has had a taste of the new and improved LT that they are willing to share? Specifically I am interested in learning how it stacks up to the "old" pre-patch LT. Still insta-killing half a dozen mechs at a pop, etc.?

We had a team going, but we stopped dropping right before they nuked us.
IDGAF how hard they nerf the Tom; If it's on the battlefield then have fun ghost dropping, other team.

So for now, the forums are quiet.
Give it a few weeks though. It'll return to rage.

So populations decline and people feel they can't trust pgi to balance FW. LT is a terrible, terrible mechanic. If the advantages of scouting provide a definitive advatage in invasion then scouting trumps invasion and the whole thing is broken.
4v4 can never be as balanced as 12v12 with 4 respawn- even a small advatage balloons in that narrow environment.
I've been dropping with a lot of ex-CJF groups lately who all agree that we hate it. Nobody will play against it and nobody wants to play with it. It nullifies the value of invasion queue completely making it pointless and mostly ghost drops unless the players agree to not scout.
It's a terrible mechanic that makes people not play and has taught countless people to hate FW. It's so bad and so universally reviled it feels insulting that it is still in the game and makes people feel like PGI is absolutely oblivious to how FW actually plays.
That's why we don't talk about it anymore. It just frustrates people and PGI seems totally oblivious to why it's such a hated mechanic.
So the handful of people left in FW just agree to blow off scouting, the only real positive from FW3, so that the game is playable.

Scout Mode 90% +
Sub-option 1 - LT firing differential - one side fires 1st and fires 2 LT for every 1 LT of the enemy. LT fired off @ 2 min/4 min mark then their opponent fires their LT @6min mark, rinse and repeat.
Sub-option 2 - Extends LT usage from 6-8 owned sectors to 5-9 sectors.
Sub-option 3 - Reduces LT usage from 6-8 owned sectors to 7-8 or 6-7 owned sectors
With the 6-8 own sectors mentioned in the previous post, sub-option 1 would be the secondary best option. With scouting, that intel collected and shifted through would mean missions that force some of the LT batteries to move, reducing the amount of incoming fire, while for the other side it would mean more active LTs.
The above would be a better usage of the LT, forcing both sides to slug through out during that period. For either side the LT does not become a one-sided affair where players will go elsewhere, whether or not their faction controls the majority of the planet or not.

True, but at least it is being thrown both ways instead of being a one-sided affair

I have come to the opinion that LT is here to stay, mainly because PGI (or PGI management more directly) seems unwilling or unable to say "Our idea was bad, we made a mistake". Not just with long-tom but with many other aspects of this game that we are forced to live with because there is this resistance to admitting something is a mistake once it makes it to production.

Spot on
They can nerf long tom all they want. The damage has been done to the player base and the game mode.
It's like the radiation after an A-bomb went off. The effects linger.
