Wtf Did You Do To The Graphics Today?

Start new match.
Huh, got the Bog, sweet, I can try it out.
OK, BLACK Screen at the start until I alt tab a few times, that's not positive.
Hmm,I throttle my GPU to 22 FPS to avoid overheat, it's sitting at 18, that's not positive.
Team mate fires his weapons.
FPS drops to 8 for a second or two.
OK. I'll shutdown the game and delete the DirectX cache files.
New game
welI got in faster this time.
Polar, so not an updated map, we'll see how we go.
Black screen again
22 FPS, OK, we might be doing OK.
team mate fires weapons.
8 FPS again.
Well this is going to suck.
WORST instance I've seen in this match.
Screen locked up for 3-5 seconds.
The HUD text "Protected light" was 3x the usual size and white
And yes, I was in close combat at the time.
OUCH.
I'm going to run a couple more matches for data, then send the logs in.
But unless something changes, I won't be playing or paying, because I basically can't.

Black screen lasts until power up sequence ends.
Some others have commented on "some FPS loss since the patch"
Logs have been sent with link to here.

And that's it for tonight.

How is this the least bit relevant? Two days ago their performance was fine. Now it is not. There is now new hardware requirement in the patch notes is there?

If before (when all was fine), it only rendered (draws) what you can see...
and now it renders (draws) every single thing, regardless of whether or not you can see it or distance...
Then say you can see 2,000 meters out, with a field of view of 75. So 75 degrees left-to-right in front of you.
V <--What you see in your field of view is what is rendered. This is before. This is fine.

Render stuff nearby. Good. Simple. Easy.
Now say you can see the entire length of the map (usually 4,000+ meters) and it is now 360 degrees around you.
O <-- What is rendered now. Everything. This is not fine.

Render all this, at the same time, with you being a speck of a dot somewhere on it, and all other players being specks as well.
(This is the difference between rendered in front of you; i.e. DayZ standalone and Arma III... versus rendered everywhere, i.e. DayZ Mod and Arma 2. Despite the superior nature of the graphics in DayZ Standalone and Arma III, Arma 2 and DayZ Mod lags like crazy due to the fact that everything, everywhere, is rendered all at once.)

Is there a change in hardware requirements I missed?
Because if there is not, shouldn't someone who was able to play before the patch expect that they would be able to play after the patch?

First: Plz read Konivings post again, and stop panicing.
This is not a HW-demand change, we are talking about 3D-engine setting fuckup here.
I hope that is the error it's this case. Because if it ain't, it we're talking major malfunction of whole base of game.
And to figure out which one is it, PGI need to know base HW which got this problem to surface.

Totally possible, hard to say before we get HW of OP to compare with.
I have AMD FX-8350+GTX1070+16Gb, and I had to drop from HQ->med to get my normal 30fps.

I just did a basic Fraps benchmark on a match on Forest a few moments ago. 15007 frames, average 38fps, on a relatively elderly setup -- Intel 2600k (not massively OCd) and a Radeon 6950, also mildly OCd (using the driver, nothing fancy). I'm running at 1920x1200 with particles at medium, the rest at very high except antialiasing, which is off (it murders the framerate on such an old card).

630M 2GB Nvidia card
SSD
6GB ram
I7 2.4GHZ 8 cores
I limit at 22FPS to prevent overheating (laptop)
Seems pretty much right today (3 matches), o maybe cache rebuild or something?

CPU is FX8350, GPU R9 280X, OS Win10 x64, do not see unusual Performance Drops so far...

I now seem to be cruising along fairly happily with everything on low.

Care to pass any of that along? My system with somewhat Higher specs is getting hosed by the frame rate drop even after multiple matches on the same map.
On many maps I drop to ~35-40fps as soon as a mech enters the field of view, as soon as conflict happens I drop to ~20fps. Baseline on most maps is 70-85fps running around the training grounds. This is after setting all graphics settings to low. Prior to the patch I ran almost all graphics settings at medium and rarely dropped below 50fps and had baselines in the training grounds in the 80-100FPS.

- Access your NVIDIA Control panel
- Click 'Manage 3D Settings'
- Click the 'Program Settings' tab
- If there isn't already an entry for MechWarrior Online in the dropdown, click the 'Add' button
- Click 'Browse'
- Navigate to D:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Bin64
- Choose 'MWOClient'
- Select the relevant 'MWOClient' in the dropdown
- If available, in the 'Preferred Graphics Processor' dropdown, select 'High-performance NVIDIA processor’
- Also in the 'Threaded optimization' dropdown, select 'On' (This should help to imrpove FPS)
- Please send me a screenshot of Nvidia Program Settings for MWO
Please also update your Nvidia card drivers by performing clean install just in case:
Download the manual installer: http://www.geforce.c.../results/105039
Select the Custom install option
Check the 'Perform a clean install' box (This is very important step)
Reboot
Please send me new DxDiag file after you update your graphics card.
Run MWO and see if the issue persists
That helped quite a lot. But DX11 was stuttering from 12 to 52 FPS, so I switched back to DX9, which was much more stable, but still stuttering enough to make me nauseous.
Then:
Could you please update DirectX files? Running through following setups will ensure that you have all necessary dll files on your computer to run the game. Please run the directx end user runtime:
http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=7087
Please also download and install https://www.microsof...ls.aspx?id=8109 when you get a chance?
- After you go to the website, press Download button
- Run directx_Jun2010_redist.exe
- Choose folder location on your drive
- Go to above selected folder and run DXSETUP.exe file
This version of DirectX has some packages that were not included in latest updates but are needed for the game
This (especially removing user.cfg) was TERRIBLE
I've tried a whole bunch of variations on my user.cfg, but the BEST I can do now is 19 FPS instead of 22. and that, frankly, is NOT playable.
And since I'm about to have another death in the family, I think it's time for another sabbatical.
