Yes, when you pay real money for mechs, they come with bays. When you're a freeloader using fake game money to buy mechs, they do not come with bays.

Gauss rifles and double heatsinks originally functioned correctly, but they nerfed them last year to break the meta of mechs with ER-PPCs/ERLLs matched with Gauss Rifles. Why? Again the people not paying cash for new mechs complained their old mechs were no longer viable.

So at what point has somebody paid enough into the game to qualify to not be a freeloader?

I like the cavalier attitude you espouse about use of real vs. in-game currency. I take the point about paying something toward the actual creation and maintenance of the game, but what constitutes a reasonable commitment?

A single player campaign with a multi-player experience for most AAA titles will run about $60. PGI said "no" to the single player campaign and has delivered what still feels like a flawed experience they've been struggling to balance since its inception. They're outright telling their customer/player base that they should be valued at significantly less than a AAA title and don't deserve anything close to that amount of money from a player.

Should it be "keep throwing money at PGI to stay 'competitive' after they keep screwing the veterans over with each patch"? Why continue to reward them with subscription-style payments for a deeply flawed and under-delivering product without seeing a clearly articulated plan for an outstanding gameplay experience or at the very least some demonstrable improvements which suggest the same?

As mentioned, I've paid in before on faith and hope in the product and will be happy to do so again when I feel like this company has its act together and understands what it's doing.

Until then, I'm very unimpressed with folks who pay to blindly support an underperforming group then get hot and bothered at others who refuse to financially condone mediocrity.

But hey, have fun with the value on the current promo and enjoy the supply caches! : )

(PS - I do still believe this game has a great deal of potential and look forward to continuing to support it)

I am a veteran of this game and I have spent much money on it. Do you want to know how I feel about Piranha games's decisions?

1. They were not permitted to make a single player game because no publisher would fund them. Microsoft prevented them from making a PlayStation version of the game. That is why they had to perform the free-to-play game. Nobody in their right mind would blame PGI for not making a single player game because they were not able to.

2. Adding Supply caches to the game has created absolutely zero drawbacks. They give you a chance to earn an extra 50 thousand bills or match with no negative consequences. It also provides people who have limited time to convert their MC in to bills by selling off Supply Cache contents. Supply caches have had absolutely zero negative impact on this game or the games entertainment value. The only negative consequences from Supply caches come from whining babies who threatened to quit the game because they added a feature that they care not to utilize. Once again nobody in their right mind would give PGI a hard time for introducing Supply caches because they have zero negative impact on the game but they do provide positive impact for individuals who choose to utilize them.

3. PGI takes forever to balance anything. That is just a fact.

4. Piranha games revived a franchise that had remained dormant for 10 years. I am very thankful for that. In fact no other game developer wanted to do that. So to all those people who are hoping that PGI loses their license I just have to wonder: what makes you think anybody else was going to do it?

Prosperity Park, do you realize that with the stale state of the game we mostly would have been better off not having it at all and put our hard earned cash on other things than a arena shooter ?

lots of players if not a majority were wishing for an updated MW2, we are so far from that.

PGI just poisoned all hopes and just keep feeding us half baked features cynosure flavored.

Thank you Mr Mega White Knight for your forum responses. Without you I'd be a jaded cynic with close to 4 years of Beta Play and no hope to be found. I have now found meaning in my 15K + matches and 1000 FP matches of which before you I saw nearly no hope for new features or change. No longer will I have night mares of MWO becoming a stale unchanging game nearly four years running. I have forgiven the Russ and the Paul for their erhm Hillary / Trump level exaggerations about features to be included into said game many kick starters a go. Praise be to PGI ... I shall donate my remaining 25K MC to some lonely pug lonewolves whom scream at premades / tagged players and large MERC units while unintentionally trolling in their LRM trial mechs.

Who's the WE or MAJORITY you apparently speak for ? I played MW2, and 3, and 4, and mercenaries. And original MW for that matter, and both the crescent hawk battletechs, and the mech commanders. I did not want another MW2. Nor did I merely want another single player campaign MW. If I wanted that, I'd re-install MW2, or 3, or 4, or Mercs. And play it again.

I've used this chance to give my best friend a 50$ pack with extra mechbays for his birthday present, so he can catch up to my 200+ mechs while playing for free.

I'm playing less often than in the first 3 years of MWO, but with friends it's much more fun to play the MWO now than 1-2 yeary ago (because of changes) and I'm also looking forward to the big changes that are comming to make it even more enjoyable (update of Assault game mode and new Heat mechanic).

I wrote lots of players IF NOT a majority, btw I know BT since 84 so all those you listed I played them too. I never wrote anything about a single player campaign. A single player campaign could been fun but be happy you wont get one.

Is it a trend to take small tiny posts into a pseudo Freudian discussion that could fill up half a dictionary ?

I can turn my head 90 degrees left and see on a stack, my original boxed sets of Battletech, Citytech and Aerotech. You cannot "out do me" in game playing history.

Son of a.... I missed out on this by SIX MINUTES after deliberating on it all weekend. Now I have 6500MC and nothing else to show for it Posted Image

EDIT: Actually, just over 9000. So - are the Thunderbolt or Battlemaster mastery packs worthwhile? Or maybe three Warhammers...?

email support... same as people who made the error of buying before the deal started. I ended up getting more MC in the final hours and amongst my cache pulls were a radar dep module and target info module, 4 days of premium time, several mech bays, and more keys.

If you don't email support about it and decide to just buy some mechs, I can readily say the Warhammers are still incredibly viable despite recent nerfs.

That's what I'm thinking - was never super excited about them, but I have three of the four Unseen, so this could be a chance to round out the collection.
Not going to email support - in all honesty, it was my dumb impulse that got me to buy without checking the time and also my deliberation that made me put it off for the whole weekend. And besides, there'll likely be another sale soonTM so I'm sure I'll have a use for the MC. I gotta say though, that Thunderbolt mastery pack looks awfully tempting... even though I'm getting three Cyclopes in three weeks...

Read my post again. See the part about how PGI wasn't funded to make a MW2-like campaign game. If that is not enough, then go to the forum archives and read Dev Blog 0.

And, no, we would not be better off without this game because we would not have been able to play it for the last several years, and the longer it stays dormant the more likely it is to fade away from popularity. This game series is riding the the coattails of an older gaming generation. MechWarrior needs all the attention it can get.

Also, if you think it is all a waste of time and money, then... can I haz ur stuff?

Exactly, no game publisher wanted to waste money developing another single player campaign game with a secondary online multiplayer capability. Either it got developed as a MMO Solaris type game (minus the indoor arena and the announcers... which game was that, MW 3 or 4? I forget now but I did enjoy it a LOT) or it didn't get developed at all. Maybe they will eventually give us the full Solaris VII experience with the stadiums and announcers, but the HPG, Bog and Mining colony maps in particular come close to duplicating some of the Solaris maps from the previous MW game.

Single player campaign is not the same thing as PvE, although they can be related. As an example, Kesmai back in 1992 implemented the game based on PvE combat vs AI bots (that were quite bad until the very last iteration ;-) ). The game had Solaris for PvP, and the main war campaign was PvE coop.
