Most of the prize injections iv gotten are from the cent AL with 2xLL 2xMPL 2xLRM5, is it because im killing lites ?

That seems to be the only cent that still works.

Teams are basically Lights+LRM+idiots. So far I've been playing the part as an idiot, because neither of the other 2 mech types interest me today. I'll be playing Elite this weekend, waiting for the event to finish.

I have a theory about leveling new mechs - the game stacks it against you and makes it very difficult to do. We all know that leveling new mechs is difficult - they don't have all the buffs, bells and whistles your mastered (insert fav. mech here) has, making it more of a challenge. But I swear that the game actually stacks up the matches even worse than normal to make your life difficult while leveling mechs.

I just bought the hunchback IIc variants for cbills and also ice ferrets. Leveling them all up to elite was a nightmare. The game IS rigged, there can be no other logical explanation. I was getting crushed match after match leveling up those new mechs. Not just a string of losses, I mean absolutely destroyed match after match after match. 12-0, 12-2 were the norm. I look at my teammates - a jenner with a ppc and LRM 5. A kodiak with machine guns and lrms. WTF. I honestly feel like the matchmaker sets you up for failure when leveling mechs. Why you may ask?

Because PGI wants you to spend money to convert xp into gxp to level up your mechs, thats why. I really, truly believe that the algorithms for MM are different in a basic mech. I've not played so bad or have had so many unbalanced matches in a row like it is when leveling new mechs. While I don't have any proof except for what my experience tells me, there's also no proof that it doesn't happen. Those PGI guys are sneaky. Not so sneaky like we don't notice that they sell OP mechs in packs and then nerf them when they become available for Cbills, but still pretty sneaky.

The problem is at 7AM the NA servers are so thin on players that you don't even have the minimal balancing of the current matchmaker helping you out. Depending on ping, you might even be better going to the EU server at times like that.

I have noticed a string of stupid matches since the event came out. This is always a consistent theme, people lose their minds when there are rewards on the table. Now dont take this as a gripe, its to be expected and is part of the torunament atmosphere. Though when I have a string of really bad matches I always check to see if an event is on..... this one in particular is throwing match balance since people are queing more lights than usual.

Just keep playing (when you can) match balance feels RNG sometimes but eventually the odds say you will make it to the winning team. Every bad string ends (as does every good one).

As to the wrong place wrong time, that is a function not only of what the team does but also what you do. Take those LRM deaths and killboxes and just put that in your back pocket for later. I still make stupid mistakes several years on, but I try to take those as lessons.

On a last note, up until about a year ago I had unbound my "allchat" button. I did this because late at night with some drinks in me I would eventually say things that only served to embarass myself. To correct the behaviour I had to remove the visibility and functionality of allchat. In the end what does it really provide? False platitudes and quippy text at the begniing and end of the match.... oh and trolling hehe. Game is almost better without it.

Challenges increase the numbers of players.

Players are disproportionately worse as total population increases, In part due to the added players generally being less experience. Add in the regular joy of a tiering system that tries to stuff everyone into the same "level" and fun will be had.

It's a good day for Streakcrows, mind you. The lights hate it, the LRM boats can't really hurt you up close while you sandblast, and idiots are gonna idiot.

"So messed up. This is all BS I tell ya. This game is rigged RIGGED I TELL YA. Screw everyone!!".

we have all been there. although i never actually disconnect i just curse at the screen and facepalm for a moment.

if your positioning is off that's an easy mistake to make. maybe you were too slow. assaults going slower than 60 are phasing out.
if its a personal mistake of the shooting kind you can also admit you missed all shots. and that doesn't make you feel so bad - this is not much ragequit worthy.

the absolute worst is when you go trade with another mech and they just win the trade hands down over and over.
makes you look like a total loser.

one thing that i learned even if i don't always apply it - is that this is a rock paper scissors game for starters.
and yes scissors can beat rock in this game but it is still not likely to happen. that's number 1 to keep in mind.

number 2 to keep in mind is that you got owned then like sometimes you own other people. you forget how you also burn cockpits off unlucky souls and you know it's not personal. today it's just you the one that got wreckt. you should take it like a mechwarrior. like a boxer is a boxer. you get beat to a pulp and out classed? oh well - dude you gotta keep on boxing anyways right? take on the next booked match!

number 3 is that you dont always play at your prime.
there are ways to bring out more concentration. like getting syked or hyperventilating by breathing hard you can improve your reaction time

Flexibility is the key to being a good pilot... esp on solo Qs.

Had a match in me Zeus last night after quite a few beers, its running 4xLL and a single lrm20a. After that match i got a list of about 15 items injected plus i won a cache.

I don't know what it is about that mech but its enjoyable and i keep comming back to it.

Accept the fact that some days the matchmaker hates you.

Log out, come back another day.

Most IIC mechs do well with an engine change and/or ferro. Go to mechspecs and so whatevs and look up the builds. Kodiaks with a 390 gain a sh*t load of extras for a 2-4 kph loss in speed and never take a IIC Hunchback with a 200xl unless you are a gifted god with a third eye

Also use Lplas and UAC10s or Gauss in pugs. Short range just sucks unless you like to farm DCs or noobs with a light or fast medium in pug play.

if you try to boat a highlander you will have a bad time. if you run it as a mixed build like it was meant to be, carry a good mix of ranges in your loadout, the damn thing is a god of the battle field, and that was before it got quirks.

also its typical to focus assault mechs first. something to think about when you pilot one.

Yea,,, i also noticed that none of the population has forgotten to focus the man named sneeking regardless of what he pilots....

Just something that hasn't escaped my attention this time round and had been a common theme right from the start. Every time i do a tour through this game multitudes of juicy targets could be standing around me and i will be the one who gets shot....

Nathaniel Johns may take is the change in speed and maneuverability was a more profound change than you are giving it credit for. Positioning is a lot harder in a big slow mech. A slower less maneuverable mech shows positioning problems etc much more. You have to be planning a lot farther ahead about where you need to be. Also when you make bad choices you have much less of a chance of recovering from them.

Now on top of that you have an event going on with a lot more lights.

So with these two things happening your going to have some tough games. But there is a rational reason behind it. Its not because the game hates you this day. Posted Image
