I'm seeing lots of videos on YouTube of players opening lots of Supply Caches and winning only quite meagre prizes, such as weapons, GXP, omnipods and CBills.

Has anyone won a Mech? Or an engine? Or a bunch of MC? Or something quite valuable?

I'd guess they modified the chances to reflect item cost


Meaning that to win a 5000 MC mech, 200 chest would have to be opened


^ Or the odds could actually be worse, I doubt they are better



So far in ~8 chests I haven't even seen a possibility to win a mech, my best win was a CUAC10


So view it just as a cheap way to get more cbills and actually buy a mech you want with those

Unfortunately PGI took what SHOULD have been an opportunity to sell mechs for MC that no one buys with MC and made the odds so low that basically no one is going to purchase MC to gamble when the odds of them getting something nice are basically zero. Hell... it's faster to sell the caches for cbills and use the money solely from selling the caches to buy your mech.

Honestly... the fact that this is so poorly done from a business stand point annoys more than the fact that caches exist at all.

Supply cache are a waste of time, better off selling them for 50k.

What supply caches offers can be bought with CBills and doesn't cost real money.

Unless they overhaul the system such that EVERY item in the grab bag is more valuable than the MC to purchase a key - I'll never buy a key. If there is even one junk item, it'll either wait till I get a free key or it'll be sold for credits.

The entire thing was a quick grab to get the curious people to waste money. Once key sales have fallen off enough, they'll change the system. Their changes won't be good enough for me, but I suspect some will buy keys.

The biggest problem I have:
There is nothing unique in that crates.
The chance to win something special, limited would be better than all these things I already have or can buy easily.

Technically every item in the crate is worth more than 25 MC, since every item is worth 50,000 C-Bills or more. And 50,000 C-Bills is worth more than 25 MC, in terms of PGI conversion.

MWO crate cash grab is tame in comparison to many other F2P games, such as Hearthstone. Buying packs in Hearthstone is a real ripoff.

It's important to remember that PGI gives us MC sometimes. What you do with that MC is up to you. You could save it and eventually buy a hero mech, get a mech bay for considerably less, or buy a key and take a gamble. So, basically all they did was give us something else to do with our MC if we so choose. There's no reason to get salty on PGI about this. Caches are brand new. If you don't like it, sell the cache right away and pocket the 50k. Think of caches sort of like Monopoly at McDonald's. It's nice to dream about getting Boardwalk and Park Place, but you know you're gonna get a free order of fries with your next purchase instead.

I've played maybe 7 games since the supply cache patch, won the cache my first two wins. First (and only)one I opened I got a summoner D. I'm an IS guy, but it's worth quite a bit!

I just opened 2 I received and got 250,000 C Bills and a C LRM 15.

Out of maybe 43 crates:

2 mechbays
1000mc
360 targeting module
~7mil Cbills after totaling the Cbills and selling the items, kept the 360 module
2 Lump of Coal
1 Dog Tags

A lot of repeat cache where the cache and reward were the same. Same items in the cache, same reward item when opened.

Didn't feel worth it, but I enjoyed the 12 mechbays included as part of the sale.
