I have a GF, job, kids, and not many C-Bills at all. I have been playing longer than you. You know what I m doing wrong? Playing fewer hours than you. My apologies for the error on my part.

Im probably playing less than you, but still i got enough cbills to buy things i want to have.

What i dont have are slots to buy more mechs, cbills pile up while mechs arent.

It's really pretty simple. Unless the only way you get mc is what is gifted to you in various ways by the game, you are better off using mc to buy mech bays directly. You will end up with more mech bays for less mc in the long run.

Here's my take.

So far I have opened about 10 caches (purchased a 11 keys and 2 from events and have 3 remaining of all of that). Out of 10 caches I have gotten a number of utter crap items. However when it comes to sell money for cbills I'm up probably 3 million cbills (didn't get a single mech... even a crappy one). Now considering 4k MC for 6.5 million cbills (yes its a ******** stupid price to begin with) I spent 250MC for 3 million cbills.

Now on another side of it you look at your average mech you buy stock for lets say 6 million cbills (clan light or IS others). Now that single mech custom is rigged out usually horribly and thus you need to spend anywhere from 3 million cbills up to possibly 8-9 million cbills if your needing to buy an XL engine or even a standard engine to go with it. So your 6 million cbill mech is now a 9-15 million cbill mech in cost and then you need 2 more of the same mech in different variants to go with it. Now all of a sudden that 3 million extra cbills all of a sudden starts really helping and that is assuming your getting fairly crap items but the occasional high value crap item as well like a crappy mod.

Now of course this is IF you sell what you get which of course most won't just because we never know if come next patch it goes from crap to meta. But we have another word for that as well.... Packrat.

As a sidenote you stand a decent chance of getting a mechbay out of those 10 caches assuming you pick your caches right which is 300MC right there.

Now I'm not saying to buy MC and open those caches. I'm just saying while I believe the implementation is horrible and a desperate money grab that still its not completely and utterly horrible.

I'm not griefing here. Just gonna write down my own experience and testing.

I did some testing of my own. Basically I've bought the big pack of MC's... because why the hell not.

I've opened only caches that consisted mostly with 5-7 interesting things and 100% of those that consisted a full mech as a reward.
From 38 supply caches/keys I've got I sorted out only those that included 5+ useful things in each and about 5 caches that included a full mech (like highlander, jenner, hbk, vindicator and at least 1-2 more that I don't remember).

So out of 38 supply caches that I've got in total, 1/3 of it was good supply caches while the rest was just meh.

Things ive got from opening about 16 caches. :

AC5, AC2, C-Bill injections, 3x NVA arms, large laser, ams, ..... and Mechbay.

Once I was veery close to get a mech (i think it was a jenner) but ofc I've got next prize which was something meh like AMS.

My advice :

If you want to open any cache at all. First check if it consists in grand majority of *good* items that you would probably enjoy.
Like 6-7 things in it are good/really good. Then you have a shot at something that would actually be useful like MC, Keys, Mechbay. Those are sort of "safe" and bottom line rewards that can be considered worthy of putting a key into and feel like more likely to come up.
But if the cache consists of :
ebj/nva/anymech omnipod, AC5, AC2, AMS.... theres almost 100% probability you'll get those "s#it" rewards instead of something useful/good. Or that was just my luck/reasons.
Other than that sell those supply caches and only press your luck maaaybe if theres a whole mech as a reward.... but I really doubt you'll get it.

My verdict : (almost) no point opening caches.
I'm not sure yet if I'll just leave the rest of the supply caches where they are and wait for PGI to do something about them or sell them... but for now I'm keeping my 20+ keys that I still have and I'm not opening anything. Unless I get a supply cache with a mech inside. Then I might reconsider. Other than that. nope, nope.

Unless they rework reward system on those supply caches I don't see why would any want to buy caches/keys. Not worth it.
So if you thought about buying into the gambling game. I've did the testing for you.
