Suggestions for a multiplayer game worth playing?

Something with a perspective of months or even years, so not necessarily the latest and greatest. My preferences are: simulation, warfare, teamplay, large games, persistence.

Not WoT and WT :)

You are a picky one aren't you? :)

Well from my limited experience I can recommend Battlefield 3 and 4 (although 3 is all but dead). Elite: Dangerous is good choice too if you like space sims. You could also try Star Wars The Old Republic MMO its F2P and its got great stories for every character. SWTOR will keep you occupied for months if you chose to play it.

Wait for Star Citizen I guess :).

Does it have to be multiplayer?

Have you tried World of Warships yet? I think its slower pace makes it a fair bit more relaxing than most games. It is still a wargaming game though, so it is designed like WoT in terms of tiers and premiums.

For a free ship (T2 VMF Diana) after one match, and another free one (T5 USS Texas) when you reach tier 6.

Some i've played recently:

Elite Dangerous: "a mile wide and an inch deep" It's ok, combat isn't bad, but it's a shallow game. As said, you could fly around in open play and it would be rare to encounter another human player, unless you visit the most populated systems, even then you'll only see maybe a few an hour. They have wings now, but instancing with friends isn't always great.

Planetside 2: a mix of team fortress classic and battlefield 2, it's ok, probably not something you could play for years though. Multiplayer with friends isn't bad, some strategy involved. It's free to play.

Bought in to Star Citizen, been doodling around with it here and there, looks like the best prospect for me at the moment for long term play.... and I'm looking for the same things you are.

My advice is to stay away from PWE (perfect world entertainment) games entirely. I have around four years experience with the company, thousands of hours in game, and nothing but bad things to say about that publisher. Here's a sampling of some of my personal complaints:

- Customer service never solved any of my issues correctly (at least 7 tickets). One ticket was filed by live chat support representative, and then closed immediately for being filed to the wrong department.
- I was harassed by another player, they posted details about my life on forum, it took me 18 months to get the details removed and to get any word back from community managers/moderators. I gave staff my personal email, and I even called and requested to speak to a superior to CM, but I was denied.
- I was harassed by a moderator for four years and they never lost their title. Community manager would investigate my ban and overturn it every time (I was inappropriately banned 3 times), yet they stayed a mod. I wasn't the only victim that was reporting the moderator.
- I reported multiple ToS violations directly to CMs with zero corrective action taken. Misogyny, homophobia, suicide suggestions, disabled hate speech and the like get ignored, but if certain community members start a thread that paints the game badly it gets locked/deleted for bogus reasons.
- Admitted hackers haven't been banned in four years. Same for those who were "sharing a computer with someone programming hacks".
- A player was doxxed and was punished the same way as the offender for going off topic. When the victim started a thread expressing their displeasure with how PWE handled the situation they were permabanned on all sites associated with the game.
- $140 worth of unused in game items were deleted from my account with no reimbursement. The most expensive item costs $100. Too much detail to get into all the ways PWE cash grabs.

Just a small taste of my experiences with this morally bankrupt publisher. If you want more details or reasons why I can't stand PWE, feel free to contact me.

The games I've enjoyed playing recently were MWO, Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm(first two Starcraft II expansions).

Lately I've played Kerbal Space Program, FTL, Tomb Raider, Company of Heroes, Battleships Forever, Star Wars Battlefront II, Homeworld 2, Bloons Tower Defense 4 & 5, Mech Commander 2. Planned to replay through MW4 mercs but haven't gotten around to it.

Looked at War Thunder, World of Warships, World of Planes, Dreadnought, Knights of the Old Republic & other games I can't remember the titles of. Haven't found anything really interesting. A lot of games I see seem like inferior remakes of games I tried a long time ago.

I bought into Star Citizen too, I have an Constellation Andromeda parked into hangar but I have yet to test flight it. It looks way too incomplete so I am just waiting for them to deliver what it is supposed to be in order to experience it fully (without high hopes at this point).

I played War Thunder for a while and I really liked the tanks realistic battles, programming and artwork are top notch, however, it is clear that Gaijin IS biased, after while it has become clear to me that it is a game with political strings attached. I prefer to stay away from Russian publishers, they seem to be unable to separate business from propaganda.

I will look into the other proposed games Posted Image anyway, keep making suggestions, I could also decide to change genre for a change.

Albion Online. If you have friends or able to make some.

Think Eve meets Diablo.
