If the Faction Play queues are ever consolidated, and the timeline moved forward, as it has been discussed, I suggest we transition to Operation Bulldog, circa 3059:

In the lore, the Inner Sphere reforms the Star League, and finally works together as a united front to attack the Clans (specifically the Smoke Jaguars). This would include the following benefits:
- Appropriate story-telling vehicle to justify the timeline jump and FP queue consolidations
- Devs can use mechs from the 3050, 3055, 3058 and 3060 Technical Readouts
- Access to new weapons and equipment (MRMs, Clan Heavy Lasers, etc)
- With FP a true Clan vs. IS fight, more factions can be added without issue (St. Ives, Comstar, Clan Nova Cat, Clan Steel Viper, Clan Diamond Shark, etc)

The article for Task Force Serpent is long, but worth the read. It provides a good synopsis of the operation, which was long, desperate, and brutal. Capturing that mood would tremendously benefit immersion.
So, this could follow lore, with the Jaguars as the primary foes, or we could just keep rolling with how MWO is unfolding, and switch it to the Jade Falcons. Of course, this being MWO, clan players would not all be stuck as the one particular faction (anyone can pile-in, some of the dynamics of Bulldog and Serpent are just used as framing devices for gameplay).
Yes, there are numerous other gameplay mechanics in FP that still need to be fixed, but a timeline jump is likely needed as well, to help keep things fresh. What say all of you?
