My Dear Oxide,
You have been a staple and source of good in my MWO adventures for so long. While the old you would get owned running into all 12 enemy mechs before, despite what others say, you were more reliable, dependable, agile and fun then you are now. You were a threat to the enemy and a friend of every teammate. Played right, you would often put a smile on the faces of those who piloted you and a frown on those who opposed you in the hands of a skilled pilot.
I am so sorry what PGI has turned you into lately. Sure you still have some good runs now and then but now it seems you are too unreliable and inconsistent as of late, even in the hands of a skilled pilot. They made you slower and bigger and a much easier target to hit who "pops" when someone looks at you funny. Now instead of just being hit with an ugly stick at birth so that you are ugly on the outside to look at, with the nerf bat, PGI has made you ugly on the inside too. For this I am sorry.
Trust me, I understand that these changes wouldnt have hurt you as much if you had the ability to arm longer range weapons limiting your facetime. I also understand you have the disadvantage of having limited ammo and I understand your only option is to brawl at extremely short range with your srms and this puts you at a significant disadvantage now being larger, slower, easier to take down because of less structure, slower turn rate and lack of jump jets. Not to mention you have the least amount of armor being a light compared to every other weight class. I understand one alpha takes you out and all the enemy has to do is watch for you to approach with their seismic sensor and wait for your sorry self to round that corner. You are too big and not fast enough to run away if you get into a sticky situation. All of this has turned you into a small suicide sled in tier 1 against opposing pilots who have at least average and above average aim. As you know, these opposing pilots usually run meta mechs with all the modules (especially seismic sensor) limiting your element of surprise. Even with this you still have to get close to the above average aiming enemy every time with your fragile self. You really have very little chance now outside a few good showings here and there.
As I reflect further on you and us, I have come to the conclusion that the nerf has caused you to become largely obsolete due to the increasing size of the maps, your limited short range which neuters you until close range and the tendency to long range poke fests. You are not fast enough to scout, and you can no longer rely on flanking and harassing the enemy at least until the match is well under way. While foolish pilots of you still rush in early headfirst to an early death, more experienced pilots have to wait like a scared puppy at the start of the match, knowing hitting you is like hitting a barn door and that you go down so easy. Even if you wait at the start of the match for some enemies to go down because you are such an easy target, when you do venture out, one alpha can take you down and since you are so big and fairly slow now, this happens fairly often. Oh how far you have fallen my little 35 ton friend. You have become another casualty in PGI's war on lights in favor of the assault and heavy mechs.
I am also sorry that because of all this many pilots refuse to pilot you or at least pilot you very little. So please understand that my view of our relationship is actually a common one. There truly is a reason why little to no pilots pilot you regularly anymore. If it makes you feel any better, your weight class is consistently under piloted and played. So this shows that all your peers overall really need some reasonable work. I dont expect you to be overpowered and invicible but I do expect you to accelerate, decelerate and run considerably faster then those who weigh 2 to 3 times as much as you do. After all, you are so fragile. As long as your overlords keep unreasanably slowing your fragile self down and speeding you overweight friends up so that they are reasanably close to your fragile self, I dont see the benifit of piloting you over them. The wait que and the mismatched wait times for your light peers against everyone else in tier 1 shows that my thoughts are in the majority. I hate to say this but I am sorry that I spent real money on you. Scratch that last part, you were fun while it lasted and I have plenty of fond memories together. While you are little use to me anymore, I still hold out hope for a better future for you.
Please know that I will be ok as a pilot and will continue to pilot all weight classes. I will also ultimately keep chasing the least crappy light mech to pilot. I will go with the arctic cheetah and now a locust since he has become "less turdy" then you. Well, until PGI gives them the nerf bat as well when enough people complain that they are OP in the hands of the few brave and competent pilots that still choose to practice in and pilot them. Regardless, you have served me while and I appreciate our past adventures together.
Best wishes,
Perhaps we shall meet again in the future,
