Than sell them for extra c-bills and buy a mech you do want with them. The Executioner is not the greatest assault but it's not bad either.

Try those? I'm not even sure if those builds have made it onto webpages or whatever. Just some builds Faction Play people run, with very good success.
The Executioner isn't a front line assault in that it charges in and causes mayhem, but it's support brawler is pretty epic with MASC.
The pointpoint damage of the SPL is great. It's like a much tankier Nova. Or combine with the UAC20/ERSL and really dish out.

I have what may be a shocking revelation for you:
You can make more money from the event and free premium than the mechs are worth, combined. I did one scout match to get the premium time and the money I've made since has financed a number of mechs.
As for the Almighty Meta: PGI's interest in Meta's extends far enough to break out the nerfbat when we decide a particular build is broken enough to become meta, that's it. After that, they give out mechs that have some passing relation to whatever event. I believe this one was because the Zeus and Executioner were about to be for c-bills, but I may be wrong.
And last, and least:
Begging for meta's is simply sad.

yea, if they have events going weekly, players can actually earn premium time on a regular basis. Not much of course but a fair bit. which is actually pretty cool.
