Rifles are obsolete technology, practically unused in BattleTech universe of this era.

What about Light Autocannons?

Light AC and even light/ mini gauss would be a techsend for light mechs. Oh and hyper velocity AC would be a nice alternative to gauss rifles... rifles. Rifling, pretty abused and misunderstood word. Rifling are what stabilizes the trajectory of bullets from the barrels used by ballistic weapons. YET in many games and film, people babbel about Plasma and Laser rifles Posted Image You dont use rifling to project beams and ionized gas darn it Posted Image

Light Gauss Rifle is not especially good weapon.

As for Hyper-Velocity Autocannons, they have one attribute that utterly disqualifies them: They explode spontaneously.

If Y'all want to do a timeskip to the Fedcom Civil War, Jihad, or Dark Age that's up to you.

But please keep things with canon timeframes.

If you don't like the tech level of the clan invasion, then we shouldn't be playing in the clan invasion.

We could have Chemical Lasers, Snub-Nosed PPCs with Capacitors, LRMs with iSwarm rounds, High Velocity Autocannons, Plasma Cannons, Stealth armor, and TSEMP cannons.

...but those don't belong in the early 3050s.

The Clan Invasion lasted until 3060. We're currently playing only the first part, Operation Revival (3050-3053) which ended in the Truce of Tukayyid.

Most of the next level weapons players want came in before the end of Operation Bulldog and the Great Refusal (3059-3060) that ended the Clan Invasion.

Truth be told, we already have a lot of weapons and equipment that are considered, in Battletech, as belonging in the next level of tech - on the IS side, anyway. Certain weapons used on mechs like the Marauder IIC or Mad Cat MkII, to make those mechs proper in MWO, would require some tech that came in later (like HAGs). But these are all weapons that come in either late in the Clan Invasion, or during the FedCom Civil war. We don't need to skip well into Jihad territory to get what most people want to see.

there are weapons we could have now that would fit in the current timeline. im not against periphery tech (rifles, rocket launchers), or other weapons like arrow iv, inferno srm, thnder lrm, silver bullet gauss, laser heat sinks, blazer, blue shield, etc. i might open my wallet if pgi implements any of those.

in 3054 is gets lams and extended lrms (all sizes). clan gets streak lrm 15 and 20, atms, and light tag. this is enough to make the game interesting. im not against waiting till 2017 for these, but i would like an actual commitment from pgi about it before the end of the year.

if somehow the game lives on after that, we get light gauss in 3056, in 3057. is gets uac2 and 10 as well as semi guided lrms. clan gets chemical laser, er large pulse, streak lrm10. 3058 brings is erml, ersl and compact heat sink. in 3059 is gets havac 2, 5, 10. clan gets heavy lasers and heavy machine guns. and so on (this is longer than pgi's predictions of how long mwo will run). but they could do a jump to 3060 in a last ditch attempt to stay open.

there were a lot of ammo types available at this point in the timeline and just having those would make the game a lot more interesting. you could also introduce more armor types. anything to make building mechs fun again. we have a really good mech lab and not really anything to do with it.

Comstar have always been in Battletech. They've always been robed mystics who pray to the unknown HPG communications nets.

After the schism, when Word of Blake started pulling out their big guns, Manei Domini were the cyborgs needed to pilot the Celestial Omnimechs without a handicap.

...unless you're talking BV. Those guys are a ridiculously expensive BV multiplier.

Yes, please, give us our IS ER SL, ER ML, UAC/2, UAC/10, UAC/20, LB2X, LB5X, LB20X, SSRM4, and SSRM6. This will help balance things so we stop trying to balance IS SL and ML against clan ER SL and ER ML which would make balance a bit less of a headache since we have equal weapons. Then, and only then, we can work on adding new weapons (and thus new mech variants).

This would be the point that I would have PGI do bundle orders where we can pick in the gift store a number of variants of mechs we want to pick up that are coming out with the the new weapons (which the new weapons are not behind a paywall but the new variants are that auto have the new tech). Do it like $7 per mech with a discount to $20 if you pick 4, and just have it so every 4 mechs cost $20, singular ones cost $7, and they all come with mech bays. And look at that they would pay for the dev time of making the new weapon systems with giving us new mechs to buy at reasonable prices and would help people who don't want to dish out the $20 for 3 mechs of which they only want one. $7 is a lot easier to swallow for a F2P game if you are wanting to support a game and you get a mech instead of MC that isn't enough to buy most mechs in the game.
