Polar Highlands is fine, for me the annoying choice is Frozen City. I absolutely detest what they've done to the map and feel that it could have been improved rather than redesigned into a long range spamfest.

Yeah that makes perfect sense on paper... but it all comes down to when a light pass 400m from you all give you targets lock to all his allies - you got nowhere to cover, so you just get LRM to death. Add to that the fact that assaults do not sustain damage in this game, and the result is really boring and frustrating.

That literally has not happened to me in at least a year.

You pop that light at 400m and he will break that lock to find cover. And do please look up for UAVs, noobs and bads notoriously never look up and wonder why they get lurmed to death.

If lights are just running up to you and you are getting lurmed to death there is only 3 conclusions:

1.You are greatly outnumbered and it doesnt matter anyhow - just die all shiny and chrome.

2. You did not keep up with the team, live by the sword, die by it.

3. You are in Tier 4-5, where nobody pays attention to the important stuff and lights can just run up and lock you and facetank with little reprieve. This is easy to fix: git gud.

4. The light hit you with a NARC.

5. The light has you lit up with TAG.

Yea Polar is a very unforgiving map for noobs. Too easy to get caught out in the open/position and get Lurmed or sniped down. Oftentimes the more patient team wins due to the opposing side breaking ranks and coming in piecemeal.

However polar can be awesome when one team is stacked with Lurms and the other isnt. I always like asking what the tube count is for my team when Polar gets picked. If my team isnt boating lurms then that means damn near everyone on the OTHER team is. Thus we need to stack up somewhere (the center dish is a popular spot) under cover and just commit to a berserker charge where EVERYONE goes over the top and focus fire anything close by. If the team commits wholesale and there arent any jackasses who hang back the charge will work, if only 6 guys commit and the rest chicken out it gets ugly.

Polar overall is a fun map for those who like to think. One can sneak onto the enemy position and get advantage if a team is aggressive and smart. Or if one team has an ecm light to sneak around a position and start spotting for boats, thats even funnier.

Well build up your multiplier and with a 12x you should get your map some time soon.

Problem is you don't. Unless you actively "farm" the multiplier by voting maps you and everyone else don't want to play you won't even have the x12, but even if you do it is hardly enough to overcome a bunch of x1's and x2's voting for the popular map. Personally I can't care less, but it does get boring real quick when 48 out of 50 matches are on same 3 maps.
