Just wondering - does the matchmaking seem worse to you than usual, the last couple of days?

I've just played my first two days of matches after 3 weeks of holidays ... and the matchmaking seems palpably worse than it was before I left.

In the PUG queue I'm getting dropped into matches where three quarters of the players don't belong to units. This is usually an indicator of lower tiers (though not for every non-unit individual, of course). And regardless of unit tags, I'm seeing half the team unable to achieve 100 damage.

In the Group Queue today, it's been even worse. I experienced five in a row 12-2 wipes, where I was either with or against a group of well known high level players, before I called it a night and decided to go do something fun.

But one player with two days of matches is a small sample. Hence my question to you - does the matchmaking seem noticeably worse to you than it did a month ago?

With the way PSR works, every month is gonna be worse than the previous one. Also, GQ has always been host to lopsided victories/losses. That shouldn't be of surprise.

Sure, no surprise in general.

But from my limited experience in the past couple of days, it suddenly seems a lot worse than usual.

It feels like there are a lot less people playing than before I took my break, and like I'm getting plonked into Tier 4 matches.

Hard to be certain, of course.

Such is the nature of the inevitable XP bar, especially when that XP bar has a finite hardcoded limit.

I have seen way too many 12-4, 12-2 and the like lately (even a 12-0!) in solo QP, both on the giving and receiving end. Something's not working well for sure.

Last night was so bad for me that the Tier bar actually dipped to less-than-max for a little while.

If only tier lvl were visible @ end of game screen.

That would give some indication as to how the matchmaker balances teams.

Does anyone one know if the match maker takes into account that some mechs are move effective than others? For example, does it account for someone queuing up in a victor vs someone in a Kodiak. Or does it treat both those assaults mechs as being equal?

It treats both as equal Assaults in Solo-Q. In GQ, Victor will take 20 tons less from the team than that of the Kodiak.

The quality of play in tier 4 solo queue seems worse than normal. I don't know if it is MM (not a whole lot lower than tier 4/5 to make matches) but I see a lot more standing still and refusing to move from "this here spot" than I used to.

That's going on in T1, too...probably because your games are the same as my games.
