I know this has been beat to death.
but here is a startling result to me.
notice the the crab had more kills and only one less assist. Warhammer actually had no kills.
now the Warhammer a score the is 56 points higher than the crab. Why?
Because he splattered more non-precision damage all over the place.
And the damage isn't really that far apart. 200 points.
So, useless over stated point is.... Nothing else matches damage for your game score.
SO the game inherently favors higher damage builds and less precision if you are looking for game score.
end of rant.

Kills Most Damage Dealt. The crab probably has none while the Warhammer does.

Were you watching?
How do you know the crab didn't just pick off a couple of red CT's?
Maybe the Warhammer did all the work of opening them up.
Match scores may favor high damage numbers and in a sense spread weapons, but winning matches does not favor those things. Its not like everyone is packing LRM's and LBX's to exploit this, and SRM's need to get danger close so high risk/reward there.

Ok, anyone feel like digging through the patch notes from last year and find where PGI said what gives you what? I know I sure don't.

In a way this would feed into the OP's argument.
One match I had a Streakcrow and I fought 2 Clan lights, which are much more resilient than IS lights. I ended up doing over 700 damage, since I had to, basically, completely strip every component due to RNG. Should I have gotten as high of a score as I did? If they had been IS lights I would have had to do much less damage and a lower "skill rating".

Yes, because they should have legged you and killed you

I'd be happy with them completely removing the rewards for doing damage, and instead increase the rewards for everything else.
Especially contributing to alternate win conditions.

Also, what else did the WHM do to support the team? Scouting? KMDD? UAV detections? With only the information shown it is difficult to tell why the other player outscored you... but damage counts for quite a bit.
More assists and more damage are only part of the math.

Yep, reward system is deeply flawed. This is one of the not-so-fun things about playing sniper builds in MWO. You can put 4 dual gauss strikes into someone's CT, but the Kodiak blasting the guy from 500 meters with LRMs and dual LBX will probably still get paid more than you.
Oh, and if you sneak behind someone with an SPL Nova and melt their rear CT like a ninja? Terrible mistake. Because you didn't do enough damage and you didn't destroy enough components.
Not to mention that if you actually achieved the primary goal of the game modes, like winning by cap in Assault or Domination, you get paid virtually nothing.
I doubt this will ever change though. How long have we waited for NARC damage rewards? Since NARC was first introduced, in 2012.
