This will work better.

(You don't need Artemis with SRM4s, they already group tightly enough.)

But I prefer this.

I like this build, Or drop engine down to 275, and add in AMS+ extra heat sinks.. To me running with the 2 ML's just adds to much heat.. I'd rather add 2 heat sinks instead.

Most of my mechs i try to get heat around 40-45%,, with DPS in the 4-6 range. rarely i'll get a mech that is in the 6-8 DPS, or on the lower side, for longer range builds.. Also a few mechs i run do run in the low 30% on heat, but they are rare ducks. Posted Image

Oky.. But'd to me the mech is to slow for SL's, drop a half ton of ammo and the lasers and add AMS.. Or like i said, lower engine too, and add more heat sinks :)

Not sure what AMS overload is O_o

AMS Overload is a module that needs to be unlocked with GXP, and then added into a Module slot (after buying one; non-consumable modules are almost as expensive in cbills as mechs.)

It almost doubles the effectiveness of a single AMS and has this hyper-firing sound effect. The only recently removed the downside of it, which it used to consume ammo twice as fast. Now it consumes ammo at the same rate as not having it.

Combine with the AMS range module and you might see why "higher tiers" can't remember that LRMs could be devastating.

Or SRMs and Streaks, for that matter, since AMS slaughters them too.

Actually... if you are storing ammo in the legs... You should keep them well armored. If someone suspects you of having ammo there, they will aim for it. Having my ammo in other locations of my mech has come in handy sometimes, as people aimed for my legs hoping to get that ammo to explode.

Just my 2 C-bills worth. (And I'm not saying it needs to be maxed armor either, just keep it well armored.)

I disagree.

If someone is aiming for your legs they are trying to leg you. Ammo explosions are just a bonus. I never drop leg below 40 armor if I can help it, but 50+ is usually wasted tonnage. I've died to legs and/or ammo explosions maybe 30 times since this game started? Just seems like its the exception, not the norm, so I don't worry too much about it.

If you want to use them at max range with the module it helps, even for 4's. Although the more nimble you are the more valuable that becomes, so for the Orion its not as good.

I would go with this, remember to use a coolshot 9x9 if you're hot for 2 extra alphas. Between alphas, show them your left side.

I've experienced things a little differently, from time to time. Depends upon the situation. (AKA: I'm not disagreeing with you.)

From my experience, if you place your leg armor too low, even on an assault, it can be very bad. If an enemy happens to splash your legs a little and notice them really change color, they will aim for it. This is why I said you should make sure they are appropriately armored. If you don't have that armor, and someone has MGs and suspect you have ammo in those legs, they will go for them if they appear weak, possibly hoping for an ammo explosion.

With my Stalker (to be more specific), I've learned to place ammo in the arms instead of the legs. This was due to the fact that, for a while at least, it was a huge thing to aim strictly for legs on LRM based mechs. Many people back then was drastically under armoring their legs and storing max ammo in them. Thankfully, I neither underarmored my legs, nor did I place any ammo in them. Can't say how many times my Stalker back then limped around on one leg... The arms for the Stalker was a very good hiding place at that time. They rarely get hit and you tend to lose a side torso long before your arm loses it's armor.

So, it does depend upon how light on armor your go with your leg armor. Too light and people may aim for it once they notice it taking damage easier. All I'm saying really.
