Just logged on, what info on ED have we got now? And how lore friendly are energy draw?

If its as good as it seems to be hyped up to be, I beg that the l33t players, MLGuys and ultra comps keep their whining low, way LOW and shut it. Or they might scare PGI into a metal box if they enmass whinefest on a possible single fault with the new heat/ energy system!
It was kinda their fault that the info/ role warfare got laid on ice because of ONE of the not so good things wit hit, which was laser lock. Just because of the massive whine about that, we have to wait for a proper role and info warfare mechanic.

It's ghost heat with all weapons linked, damage limit set to 30ish (tweakable value), and a HUD indicator is the best we can tell. Sounds like their might be some relief on how spread damage weapons like LRMS and LBX have their damage added up to the arbitrary value.

Expected result: Dakka meta (dakka meta is already here, but lasers aren't useless currently, ED will ensure they are buried) no change in TTK, just a net step backwards in terms of balance.

I can assure you, the "ultra comps" will be beating you into the ground with the new system, and your kind will be back here to whine about its faults while the rest of us say " I told you so" a infinitum while laughing like Woody the Woodpecker incessantly.

Well... I'll be pissed because the Executioner won't be as solo queue viable as it is now... but I will definitely still say "I told you so", I just won't be laughing.

Wait, so does that mean a GAR-D 12 Small Pulse alpha will no longer work. Boo.

I suspect people will leaning hard on laser macros to stagger their damage output now. Like a bandaid over a bandaid over a bandaid.

That 12 small pulse alpha is already restricted by ghost heat 1... thats why it takes you to almost 100% in one shot lol

Russ mainly. Its been described as ghost heat with workarounds fixed (read: all weapons are linked) with an arbitrary damage limit (started at 30 and will likely tweak) and a HUD indicator showing how close to the limit you get. So more or less, do more than the damage limit, get a heat penalty. There is some possibility that they will include a damage modifier for spread weapons so they count towards the limit less.

Haha, well. Not sure if you are joking or not. But whining is the least thing I will do. Even if things that seems promising but gets busto, I rather try to come with some constructive things along with critique. One thing the ultra comps does good is to stretch any kind of system to its limits, gotta give em that. Posted Image

..you guys forgot to mention that Light mechs will have the same alpha limit as Assault mechs..

If this crap gets shoved into the game.. Lights will be like:

...and Assaults will be virtually useless, unless they have 4+ ballistic mounts.

This system would directly screw over Grasshoppers, Black Knights, Battlemasters, Executioners and any future Heavy / Assault mechs that have mostly energy hardpoints.

It seems like the single most terri-bad idea for MWO since laser-lock.

The current system is fine.. balance about as close as it has ever been.. TTK is fine.. it's just being pushed by bad players who can't torso twist and read too many old Battletech novels.

I know. I still do it when there is cover. I did 66 points to a Black Widows CT the other day and hid before he knew what hit him. Waited a few seconds for my 26 double heat sinks to do their thing, and did it again Posted Image. I recon he was pretty peeved.

I mean, we can all see the balance blunder this is.. why not just scrap it after we confirm that it as we suspect on the PTS?

Wait... what mech? Hunchie can only do that with like 17-18 DHS.

all these non cannon workarounds wouldn't be necessary if we had a credible multi-ton robot simulation, instead we got fast COD like gameplay and weapons spamming reflects this. I don know where PGI is going at with this gimmick without fixing core gameplay issues first. I believe you will be missing many shot opportunities and increase the frustration levels.

It is my most effective mech with a 2.68 win/loss and 4.22 kdr.

It's not great (actually pretty bad sometimes) in group play but a monster in pug games.

Yeah, pug games give you the time you need to cool off. I wouldn't call that a "frequently repeatable alpha" though.

Gargoyle D. with arms from the other variants. Front load the armor on this and use that 400XL to full effect and. ... it... it might be OP. I cant believe I said that about a Gargoyle.

OH sorry confusing people here.

Yeah, but I mean, you get so close and zap somebody with that, then what? I found firing in two groups more effective for that build.

Yeah you do have to fire it in two groups to survive any brawl. But you don't have to if the situation calls for a hit and run. It hits about 60% heat on a full alpha IIRC.

We don't know anything about power draw because all of those emails about power draw just disappeared from PGI's private server.

Paul lied about sending out classified power draw emails on his private server, and now we've heard the server was hacked. We don't know who hacked the server, maybe it was the Steiners. Nobody knows. Hey Katrina, if you're listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be mightly rewarded by our forumwarriors.
