Sorry to say but that game is third rate at best. Shouldn't be on these forums at all because it isn't even 1/10 of this game.

LOL Good one for referencing an ancient video fella! Mektek have released a brand new patch for Heavy Gear Assault that essentially turns the gameplay on it's head for the better. The only thing that stayed the same was the look of the gears frankly.

The FX have improved, the maps have improved, the explosions have massively improved and they've got IK on the limbs on map geometry ;-)

Here's a better video if you want to see some of those improvements over my old video I did ages ago, and lets not forget that Heavy Gear Assault is still very much alpha at the moment, so nothing is final release yet.

Trees are in the game....

But... yeah... kinda need infantry and tanks for them to be properly good

I sometimes think how truly impressive a map like forest would be if we could set it ablaze, with billowing smoke and added heat to worry about. Visually, strategically, etc. it would be amazing. Alas, as I understand it, flame and smoke are really hard to program and really drag down performance so we will likely never have such functionality. Still I can wish.


...and don't forget the Ewoks.

LOL! You're comparing a still alpha-level game to a 4 year old one whose own players are already calling stale.

Am I the only one who actually likes the way flamers look now? Is it as impressive as a flamethrower-like combustion reaction? No. Is it more realistic? I think so. What we have now is more or less what plasma would look like in real life. What flamers used to look like is a combustion reaction, and that's not how flamers work in the lore. And I'm pretty sure that's why PGI changed the way they look.
