OK. It's cool that there has been some sort of cosmetic stuff going on with this map as of lately.

But having this map set as some sort of default one out of the 4 maps to vote from?

After a little while of seeing this map just being sticked up there in the vote there's a naggin feeling of being treated as some sort of a space monkey forced to test some new bits of shading on a slightly reworked map (while the game has supposedly been out of beta for a few years already).

You think that's cool?

Maybe it's time to switch back to 4 maps to choose from instead of 3?

Its not a default...there's only 10 maps... 4 are randomly chosen to present for each match. There are certain predictable votes though...cold maps are picked over hot maps, crimson tide is preferred to river city, bog over forest, hpg over mining, canyon over everything, etc. Play ENOUGH games and you'll learn all the patterns.

If you think this is bad. I hate grim plexus, I hate polar highlands, and I hate new viridian bog.
Its not because the maps are bad (although most of them are if I'm honest) its because when they released it was nothing but this map for 14 games straight each day for over a week (so my game time was ruined).

The only one that avoided this selection train was Forest colony mainly because it was rare before and after. The only saving grace used to be being able to save up a 8-12x multiplier and pick a different map once a gaming session (although this is impossible with the new voting system as a solo player).

Your maths are bad and you should feel bad, If this was true terra therma would be in the rotation a lot more. At least in the old voting system people could save up multipliers and affect a simple change, now with the blind voting clans (4-8 players) always win (and its usually cold and lurmy maps).

All the banter aside I think he has a point that most people (dev's included) wont like.

i PLAY a lot more games than you do (FIVE TIMES AS MANY), and terra therma shows up an awful lot of the time for me. I can still game the voting system and build up high multipliers. i JUST used a 9x to force mining colony over crimsom tide, frozen city and polar highlands.

So you don't like it when people bring up tier, but you will happily bring up stats when it suits you?

It seems your point is "I play a lot of games" and "this one time after losing the vote 9 times in a row I got a multiplier and got to pick the map" you see how your one anecdotal case is not swaying me?

Some people don't have time so sit down and play 10 matches in a row to finally get to pick a map they want to play.

Then play private games and pick your own maps...and yes...stats are relevant when you talk about how rare the terra therma map is in the map rotation. It only appears rare to someone like yourself who won't play 10 games in a row. If you only play TWO games... and out of X something maps each only has a 1/X chance of being one of the four options...two games will likely mean you'll not see at least X-8 of the map options at all.

We have three frozen maps....frozen city, alpine peaks and polar highlands, we have three hot maps (tourmaline desert, terra therma and caustic valley, we have two "green" maps, the bog and the forest colony, the two city maps (crimson tide and river city), and the four oddballs...canyon network, hpg station, grim plexus and mining colony. Ok so its 14 not 10... before the frozen city revamp it was 15 because there were seperate frozen city day and night maps. 14 maps means a slightly more than 7% chance of each one being in the four options.

Bog is the latest map to be revised as of the july patch, so its getting more votes because the new stairs on the central mesa and a couple other mesas have fixed many of the player raised issues. Its thus POPULAR to play on. I've liked it since before the changes and vote for it religiously. As to my building up a 9x multiplier... did you NOT EVEN READ what I wrote?!? I thought the english plain enough...

I can still game the voting system and build up high multipliers

Play a private game and pick the maps, what a simple solution. That's almost like when people complain about a broken game mechanic and someone says "just get good". Don't address the problem and fix it, just work around it.
I would also love to know how you know how many games I have played as I can only view my own stats.

Your maths is off. It has a 7% change of appearing if there was no RNG. It has a lot lower chance of being selected due to player choice. You seemed to ignore that part and only focus on its chance of appearing.

I read what you wrote and then I rephrased it to show you how absurd what you stated as "evidence" was.

If you think playing 10 matches to select one is "gaming the system" then I am glad you are not my accountant.

That aside yes I can and do the same thing very often. I think the point of the thread was actually about the voting and player selection of "popular" maps. I remember in beta you would just drop in a random map so you never knew what you would get. Then the voting was introduced and it was a really fun mini game (building up multipliers to pick a map YOU really want to play eventually) now its just vote for the lesser of 2 evils (i.e. which of these 2 "popular maps" would you rather play). That was my point that you seem to have ignored.
