Just a random thought.

Each clan has its closely guarded genes hidden away on some planet or moon. Protected from the Inner sphere, as well as the other clans. They are an extremely influential part of the social structure within a clan.

It seems as though these holding facilities should be major targets for the Inner Sphere. I don't know.... maybe a "gene raid," or something?

So at this moment every clan mech has a badass in the cockpit. But if their supply of "experience" is diminished, then over time clan pilots would end up with rookie genes, allowing the battle hardened Inner Sphere to mop them up. (I imagine this would be a long term war of attrition where pilots die, and their knowledge is lost)

We would basically be fighting these guys after a while.

At first glance I thought that was a visual representing PGIs marketing department.

Clanners have no naughty bits hence the vat pool.
Midway thru the Clan Invasion House Davion and House KUrita made a daring raid.
The goal was not destruction but the inflitration and corruption of the Jade Falcon's and Clan Wolf genetic bathtub.
Though only several of the inflitration teams members made it back to the Inner Sphere.
Operation Barney was a raging sucess.

Makes sense to me. It ensures you never run out of cannon fodder. Eliminates any local resistance. And for every soldier you add, your enemy loses two: the one you converted, and his buddy on the other side who can't pull the trigger on a friend.

Im drunk but i think that has something to do with bathtubs.

Sorry, but it wouldn't work. There are always facilites holding the original samples and those facilities are placed on Strana Mechty, deep in Clan Homeworlds. Inner Sphere raiders would have no chance of reaching those master samples.

Yes, essentially it was. But the game story made the problem more dramatic than it actually was. Plus, those raiders were actually the Clanners, not IS. (and there were some other problems with the game too)

ive been trying to play it but its been rather dodgy, running in a win98 virtual machine and all. cant fullscreen and cant use my mouse. as for joysticks, since the thing predates usb, i have to remap my controls every time i play. the other side is i get trackir support. last time i ran this thing, i had a voodoo card.

Have you seen Clan pugs play?
I'd say Operation Barney was a sucess.
