Holy crap in Tier 5 during this event there are so many Assaults who only press W and D. I will probably be Tier 4 after this weekend.

Just like to point out how welcoming the farmers are to the new or casual players. They don't see what the end result of coming into solo and stomping will do for the game. They just hope MM breaks so they have more chances to club baby seals.

Then they come here to brag about it.

Narcissism without merit at its finest

You act as if it is hard to exploit bad implementation and programming. The player is there using the tools PGI has provided.

Course it's gonna be bad. You've got most of the team running around in slow assault mechs. High-firepower, but high chance of NOT being able to avoid enemy fire. No maneuverability, few people flanking. Players in slow lumbering machines that are not used to having mistakes so heavily punished as your moves must be pretty definitive in a slow assault. You end up with trench warfare a lot of the time.

Since I only have 2 assault chassis, Direwolf, Kodiak and 1 non basic'd loyalty atlas, not even bothering with this event. Rather run light / medium long range mechs to harass the fatties.

First four matches in this event; loss by stomp. Let's see if we can make it five...

For me, it was the first eight. Even with premium time, it takes a while to level new mechs, when you get 150 xp per match.

Yeah, don't I know it... every time I try to level something my matches go terrible...

Stomps are how this game goes 99% of the time, has nothing to do with more assaults or any events.

Assaults are slow, the firepower they bring doesn't help them when their team races ahead and dies. It doesn't help when an assault mech is LRM support, that's a lot of armor sitting on the sidelines waiting for locks.

I love these events for the free crap I get. Leader boards are for the try hards, I'll never be on one but I also don't care. I'm a casual player more or less, even though I play often I do it in solo queue and during events with prizes I like.

I drop in my 2x ERPPC 2x Gauss Rifle Tarcom7 Direwolf and vote for stupid long-range maps every time since I get a chance to do decent there. I'm not really climbing the leaderboards, just farming for some mechs on sale. :3

That moment when someone calls for a push, but everyone that didn't bring LRMs is already dead. Glad to see the 1 ERLL 3 LRM 10 Highlander is untouched.

I know these tournaments and events tend to bring out the weekend warriors, but this one seems particularly painful to me. 6-8 assaults per team, most of whom don't seem to be familiar with how assaults work. I don't normally complain about events or how people play the game, but...

Looks like the next 5 days will be kind of rough in the solo queue.

Are you guys joining the "epic assault" or playing something else? I think I need to drop in a mech that doesn't rely on the assaults to push. Like a fast ECM sniper or something. I don't know.

I'll be leveling new lights and getting practice with my jumpsnipe summoner.

I'm finding this event to be easier than most. I don't own an assault, primarily light pilot. Three matches so far, FS9-S, FS9-H, and TDR-9SE, lost the match by 4/5 in the H.

-2/3 victories
-6 KMDD
-Assists complete
-1056 Damage
-811 Match Score
-437,056 C-Bills
-XP complete

The amount of oblivious LRM boats is too damn high!

Well, it depends on what kind of lrm support and how it's played. Never go full lrm boat, that's just sad and a poor life choice. Half lrm half laser is what I do with my Warhawk-B (4 lrm 10, 2 erll, 2 erml OR 4 alrm5, 2 lpl, 2 erml). I play it very aggressive in order to keep heads down with the lrm's and shear off armor with the laser fire. Works pretty dang well to soften targets then core them out OR open them up them bombard them. Works either way with enough speed to keep up. Very rare to have a bad score regardless of the match.

Besides, I usually end up with half a mech and broken everywhere if I don't die later in the match anyways.

This is exactly why I don't ever play the weight class of an event. I always play it's weakness. Usually that's anova for lights/mediums or a jenner IIC-A with 6 mlas for heavies/assaults. And this is somebody who would consider themself a regular assault pilot. Any time there isn't an event? Assaults. (or just whichever que is lowest, I hope I could be considered ok with any class at the least.)

I've had fun stripping back armor and running circles around the fatties. The bad part is sometimes 6 mechs bring LRMs. Hate to see my team die so fast to focus missles.

I left the game 2 years ago before PSR was added. I came back 2 months ago being introduced to PSR and what it took to move up. I don't think many Founders who left the game left/returned like I did.

Well, hopefully PGI does some significant stuff in the game and more Founders come back. Probably wishful thinking though...

So far right now, the issue I'm running into is A ) Too many assaults per team, leading to fairly static game play ( you may like it or not) and B ) Assault pilots are generally shy. Most of them are very well aware that they are the biggest and easiest target out there and that they have nowhere near the amount of survivability required to take 2 alphas on the nose, much less three. End result = Static positions with on average, 800-900 tons of mechs ***** footing behind cover on eother side of the firing line.

RL life is preventing me dropping much this weekend. The few games I have been leveling up a couple of the faster assaults; Executioners and battlemasters. Been mostly fun. Neither lurmageddon nor suicidal lights have been that much of an issue...
